I'm not in the city, so we don't have stuff like that. Just cheesy clubs.mthrfnk wrote:Also pretty sure all undergrads don't live for MTV, stop generalising. Most of the places near me when I was a student catered for dubstep/dnb/electro/house music rather than "club" music.

Every time I hear a new Nicki Minaj or whatever song on the radio or TV, I always think to myself, "Maaaan, the producer must've spent a lot of time on that."

They spent a lot of time making the mix great.jonahmann wrote:Effort != quality. They spent a lot of time making it loud.
You can't deny on most pop songs the mixes are spot on for their purpose (radio/club play) but thats obviousy because they get done by professional engineers.
Re: MTV
No, radio has its own limiters, which means hypercompressing it themselves was a mistake.
EDIT: It doesn't matter how long it took. If I take twice as long for the same results, am I more deserving of praise?

Freshest track atm.
Re: MTV
He didn't say radio specifically, stop trying to get all technical with how he worded something for the sake of an argument. Whether you hear them on the radio, youtube or if you download it, you can still tell the mixes on most of those songs are pretty spot on. And they should be because someone's likely getting paid a fair amount of money to do them.jonahmann wrote:No, radio has its own limiters, which means hypercompressing it themselves was a mistake.

Re: MTV
The thing I find about pop music is that it's all the same formula. Every producer that produces house is the same. heavily sidechained lead with a vocal and the same melody for the entire tune.OfficialDAPT wrote:Just because you don't like the song doesn't mean that its not music. It's what people like yes, and those tracks aren't indeed not bad for the first time you hear it, but it's just a shame that there is no diversity in pop music.

MTV2 (120 minutes/Gonzo) defined my teenage years, honestly haven't watched MTV since I was about 14-15 so a good 8 years or so though.

Re: MTV
MTV has become whats wrong with the world imo.
Fake, trashy & no substance or artistic merit.
Brainwashing people to believe what they see is "cool"
A female friend of mine saw Chris Brown on MTV, she was going on about how cool he is etc... I mentioned how hes a scumbag that beats girls, she said she didnt care and continued to be mezmerized by the MTV (empty V).

Re: MTV
I've done a pretty good job of avoiding mtv for the past 5 years, and I'm still in high school.
Just turn off the telly and make some bloody beats man.

MTV serves a purpose. I'm not the target audience and haven't been for at least 10yrs.
