I don't think I can listen to any album more than once in a row.

yes.Genevieve wrote:The 'album' format itself is pretty overrated when you consider that most artists can't deliver that much quality in one go. I don't blame them, though. Giving people 45-60 minutes of quality music on a single release is waay too high of a standard. It's doable, but it's pretty rare to find something that's truly consistent and all killer/no filler from start to finish.
dance music albums are just as bad for filler tunes as any other I've found, also I suppose the elongated structure of dance tracks doesn't have that much appeal for album listeners. I'm a big fan of "mixed" albums, where producers put together a DJ mix of the tunes for the CD release and have unmixed tracks on a vinyl release, it get rid of the lulls of minute long intros and outros and it seems more natural to put dance music in the setting of a mix. recent examples include the I:Cube and Villalobos albums.
as for my fave album ever, there are plenty of candidates but i'll stick with:

Re: Your ALL-TIME FAVOURITE Album?
I could probably name my top 50 albums and none of them would have even a hint of guitar

Re: Your ALL-TIME FAVOURITE Album?
Gloria Estefan's Greatest Hits Vol 1.

I was gonna say Led Zep III, then thought whoever posted Electric Ladyland on page 1 was probably correct, then saw this
Every tune on that ^ speaks fucking volumes. Lee Perry's greatest moment. Now I can't decide. There's also this The Gladiators - Studio One compilation album which is firm competition.baron_von_carlton wrote:

My favourite album is Green Day - Dookie, it's not the best album in my collection by a long stretch, but it's definitely my favourite.
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde, Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water and Portishead - Dummy would all be up there too...
Thriller's a fine shout!

Hey, Dookie is a great album. There are a bunch of classics on there: Longview, Basket Case, She, When I Come Around, etc.

Because of the lack of dance music in here i'll give you my 2nd favourite

Re: Your ALL-TIME FAVOURITE Album?
This is too hard.
One of these I think.
Dead Can Dance- Within the Realms of a Dying Sun
Cinematic Orchestra- Motion
Opeth- Still Life
Jeff Buckley- Grace
I can't think how many albums I'd have to name before getting to an EDM album. Probably 'Slam- Headstates'.

Re: Your ALL-TIME FAVOURITE Album?
I was anticipating this reaction... like I said, not the best by any measure, but most songs have a fairly strong association to various awesome events during my teenage years. It never fails to make me smile, so it's my favourite. I've got a framed copy on my wall.wub wrote:southstar wrote:magma wrote:Green Day - Dookie

Welcome to Paradise and She are still amazing too, so you two can get fucked.
