It amazes me when someone claims to know how to use a pc, yet is switching to a mac because 'pc's are shit and mine breaks all the time'. Lol!daeMTHAFKNkim wrote: Well you pretty much stated the obvious. You guys wanted to know my PERSONAL opinions so I gave them to ya.
I've built my own computer I'm not fucking retarded. I've made my own servers with C++ , I'm pretty good with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sony Vegas. I use the computer everyday. Shit. Hop off my jock, get off your high horse lady.
Everyones laptop I've used either got a virus, overheated, went to shit in general cuz PC laptops suck. Those Toshibas, Dells, HPs, and Sonys all suck dick. I've used them ALL. I've just never OWNED one cuz I'm not rich, I'm broke as fuck. And if I'm paying this much money to get a damn laptop, might as well get a MAC.
And I'm not getting a damn Alienware Laptop..
I'd prefer a PC desktop over a MAC desktop anyday, but when it comes down to a laptop, the apple is more reliable in my opinion.
Of course there's viruses on MACs but it ranges in the hundreds or thousands and pretty much impossible to get one unless you're a retard. The PCs have millions.
Seriously, learn to set up your technology properly.
Re: Getting a MacBookPro...PC to MAC switch...VST questions.
I'm not getting involved in the whole pc v mac thing because i get enough of it at home from my woman.
I run logic on a macbook pro and find it pretty stable most of the time.Logic and macs are not without their bugs and their support is seriously lousy for the money you shell out.
I've been on mac for 10 years and would never go for pc or any other daw for the fact the years i have spent getting where i am i don't want to take steps backwards with having to learn new platforms.
I think with the money you want to possibly spend on the better cpu would probably be better spent getting a daw and 3rd party plugs to get you on your way. There is bench tests on the net comparing the difference between the processing speeds to see if it is worth shelling out on the faster of the two.
I have the 2.8ghz i7 and it runs fine on fairly large size projects,my only advice would be bounce down a lot and learn about the freeze function.System core overloads are a bitch in logic when you first start getting them and a bit of a pain to work with.
Also one more thing without trying to sound like a cock, its not the tools that are important its the user!!

When was the last time you saw someone DJ'ing with Ableton on stage with a pc laptop?
When was the last time you saw a PC as the main machine in a studio?
So many benefits to having a mac. Being able to use Logic, being able to produce on the move better because the onboard soundcard is better, faster navigation between programs with the trackpad, better display, lack of viruses and loads of other little quirks, like the fact that when I bought my new interface I didn't even have to install drivers like I did on my old PC laptop, it was just plug and play on the MB.
They are nicer machines to work with.

lol. Cunty responses such as yours on this forum are standard it seems, you won't see it anywhere else. Anyway all I was saying was that there's alot of benefits to buying a mac and then my other response was tongue in cheek. American sense of humour failure

Re: Getting a MacBookPro...PC to MAC switch...VST questions.
PC all the way here. Superior specs for less the price imo. I also like being able to get under the hood of an OS and with Windows you can do all sorts of registry tweaks/etc. Also I have not gotten a virus in forever: Up to date antivirus/firewall + NoScript + Adblock Plus = Happy clean PC. In the end there's nothing wrong with a Mac but I certainly disagree with the notion that its an upgrade from PC...

Well, I don't really like that kind of effect, like effectrix and glitch... God damn brocolli effects.
But it's something you learn to live with. Most good vsts will have mac versions, but the ones that don't you'll just get used to. I'm glad I made the switch. The first time I turned on my mac I fell in love. Starts up way faster than PC, has a much simpler file system. It's perfect for music production and simple things. Let the haters hate, and get a mac. The problem with apple is they get you buy doing small upgrades. Mine runs fine for what I do, but if I have many tracks with midi or lots of high cpu effects it can lag a bit.
PS I spilled a beer on my macbook out of warranty, brought it to a genius and told them what happened (no apple care), and they gave me a brand new one and transferred all my data over and told me not to do it again. For that reason, I will always buy apple.

Lol you're the one who seems worked up. I just pointed out how dumb it sounds, when you say that sony, toshiba, dell etc "suck dick" and then claim you're good with technology.daeMTHAFKNkim wrote:I've had 3 PCs in my life and I never had it break...if you know how to read....I was referring to my friends.VirtualMark wrote:It amazes me when someone claims to know how to use a pc, yet is switching to a mac because 'pc's are shit and mine breaks all the time'. They do suck, if you're going to get a PC, just build it yourself/order parts off of newegg.
Their laptops are worse.

Yeah Dell are terrible, their products only last a few decades. In fact this 4 year old Dell laptop that i'm typing this on right now isn't even working at all. I can't even type this sentence see? What a rip off. And with only 2.5ghz dual core and 4gb of ram, i can only run a few hundred plugins and dozens of tracks in a project, what a waste of time.daeMTHAFKNkim wrote: Lol i'm annoyed cuz no one answered my shitty questions besides like 2 people.

Did you even read my whole point on getting the Mac? Or are you just retarded? I listened to your tracks, sounds like there's 2-5 plug-ins and probably 2-5 tracks total for a project. GJ, you got so much going on...I bet that is too much for your 2.5ghz and 4gb of ram....please tell me how do you do it.

I don't care why you're getting a Mac, i just hate people spreading inaccurate nonsense about PC's.daeMTHAFKNkim wrote:Did you even read my whole point on getting the Mac? Or are you just retarded? I would get a PC Laptop if I was spending around $500 but I'm not.

Funny how they work fine for the millions of other people. My 5 year old nephew can use a computer without it crashing, slowing down or overheating, it's not as hard as you think.daeMTHAFKNkim wrote:Everyones laptop I've used either got a virus, overheated, went to shit in general cuz PC laptops suck. You're not exactly Mozart yourself mate. And clearly you missed the point - the point i was making is that a 4 year old "unreliable" Dell laptop can run the latest plugins, have dozens of tracks and fx. It's not sluggish in any way, boots up quickly and has been left switched on for most of its 4 years. So i have to disagree when you say pc's are unreliable/slow/overheat etc.daeMTHAFKNkim wrote:I listened to your tracks, sounds like there's 2-5 plug-ins and probably 2-5 tracks total for a project. I also have a fast i7 desktop which i do most of my producing on now, the track counts and plugins vary between each project. Your attempt at insulting me makes you look stupid - you have a lot to learn if you think people write tunes with only 2-5 tracks.
Re: Getting a MacBookPro...PC to MAC switch...VST questions.
C'mon guys! WHERES THE LOVE?!
It doesnt matter what you produce with! As long as you're not a douche bag who looks down on other people because of the computer/software/and DAW that they use.
I use a Macbook Pro 13" i7. I'm happy with it. This is the only computer I use. But in all honesty, it has gotten slower, but it all started after I upgraded to OSX Lion.
But seriously, if you want a Mac, go get one. I bought a Mac because I like Apple products and have been using them for quite a while. I'm not gonna tell people they shouldn't use a PC just because I have a Macbook, vice-versa. Its all about personal preference. I expect to get a few more years out of my Mac, before upgrading to a newer one.
It is true that some VST's (mostly free ones) dont run on Macs, but you'll figure out something else. But if its such an inconvenience to not be able to use those VSTs or even a DAW, then stick with PC.
