Rosemary's Baby is a proper horror film not like most of today's stuff which is 50-50 softcore porn/gore. And that soundtrack is creepy as fuck. Have you seen any other Polanski? They aren't horrors but Chinatown and The Ghost Writer are both really good too.

+1 on Eternal Sunshine. I thought Melancholia was alright but slow getting going. The best thing it had going for it was the stunning visuals. But yeah, if you're not a Von Trier fan this film won't change your mind lol.

re: tyrannosaur

I thought it was great. Colman & Mullan were both excellent. The plot is fairly simple/standard but it's executed incredibly well. Heartbreaking film.

Liar Liar is is such a good film
If you take your movies too seriously and dont want to watch Liar Liar then watch I Love You Philip Morris, it's rally good
but seriously, Jim Carrey is too funny in whatever he's in (Bruce Almighty is shite though)

You might like some the stuff that was coming out of Italy and Spain in the 1970's, if you can get past the dubbing.
I just finished watching Mark Gattis's documentary on European Horror (did you watch the series he did a couple years back, A History of Horror? You should if you can find it) and i'm definitely going to watch a couple of these, they look pretty fucking scary. Deep Red and Suspiria are on my to-watch list.

If you like this sort of thing (actually, even if you're not like i was), i really recommend watching his three part series on horror cinema and the follow-up one-off Europe one (it's on iplayer for a few more days at the moment) they're really really good, bare spoilers in them though, 'specially the European one.

That Mark Gatiss series was great. Watched it when it aired.

Suspiria is superb. The set design & use of colour is absolutely incredible. One of the most visually striking films I've seen. Real work of art.

Skip Deep Red, it's not all that. The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, A Lizard in a Woman's Skin, Twitch of the Death Nerve, What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, Don't Torture a Duckling, and Tenebrae are worth watching, easy to find as well. Torso is also worth a watch but it really hasn't aged well at all.
