EQing and Filtering for Vowels

I'm new here, as many of you might have already realized, and I have recently got into producing dubstep in addition to electro house and hardstyle. While producing electro house I was happy with what I now realize to be horrible, very basic and "overproduced" talking wobble using zeta and WOW. But now that I'm into the dubstep region I'm looking to get my talking basses more professional, an im told the way to do this is to use eq and more controllable filters to shape out the sound I want. Over the past week I have tried and tried to achieve a talking bass through eqing and filtering manually but the best i can come up with is a very thin, sounding vowel, its like listenin to modern talking without anythig else. So i was looking to see if anyone could give me some tips like ranges i should be targeting within the eq, kinds of filters, and anything else that could help me out.

Thanks, read the first few pages and I have a good idea of what I'm looking to do. Only problem is now I'm havingtrouble getting the more gritty midrange out of the sound.

Then simply add some more bitcrush or White noise to it.

Mess around with the cut off,a nd cut off some of the low end.

Remember this: Bass is always pretty much layered to some extent unless it's built in to one full thing.

Example: Have a sub under bass, but the bass itself sounded so plain so synthesized it to add a 3rd layer for that character.
