d s i profit08 for a totaly blind person?

hey all i'm trey from the uk and i'm totaly blind. i have some questions about the d s i profit08 firstly is it a good synth for making electronic music with? all the demos i found were commercial sounding. secondly i'm prepared to accept there'll be some menu navigation to do but how simple are the menus to navigate and use? and how essential are they for the day to day use of the synth? what functions are accessed using the menus? any one willing to stick a complete list in a reply? also how good do people think the synth would be for a blind person to use if you set aside the fact that it has menus? setting aside the menus is it complex or simple? your help with these questions would be most welcome. blessings and respect sound warrior.

I guess if you're totally blind it might be easiest to get a ROMpler like nexus. I can't imagine how you would be able to find your way around a soft synth. Maybe a hardware synth would be easier? Idk it's kinda a tricky situation. No offense

Well, first, the DSI Prophet is an analog hardware synth. So,in fact, it might easily be possible for blind person to navigate it. The prophet has a lot of dedicated knobs, I imagine the menu diving would be minimal. Maybe you could get someone to download the manual and help you through it. I recommend this as I always read the manual of a synth (hardware or software) before I buy it.

I will say that my DSI Mopho's menus are quite easy to navigate IMO. However, the the knobs sometimes skip over parameters in the menus. This might throw you off if the Prophet acted the same way.

I would go totally analogue without menus and such like the new arturia minibrute. Its highly rated here. Also the new roland one, i forget it's name.

By the way did you post here a while back about which daw to use?

That synth is fine. For that one and any other you just have to check what is done in the lcd screen, if you can handle that. An totally analog device or virtual analog with no lcd screen you surely would have no problems as it is all physical buttons, knobs and sliders.

like depone said, the DSI Profit, Roland Gaia, or even an Arturia Minibrute. and, If i'm not mistaken, all of these have dedicated pots for every single parameter - which i think would perfect for you.

cool man i don't really like the way the mini broot sounds t b h i think its generic sounding in turms of analogue synths also its monophonic and i want some thing with polyphony a rare thing amongst analog synths. i like the way the roland gaiai sounds in my opinion it sounds like a vst software synth in a box any one understand where i'm coming from or agree with me? blessings sound warrior.

Glad you have something sorted and accessible for you. I know what you mean about it being a VSTi sound in a box. If you are really on a shoestring budget,try the dave smith's tetra. It's like the mopho, but polyphonic. Otherwise the Prophet is probably the way to go. It's really hard for me (or us) to give you advice on a hardware synth without witnessing how well you are able to navigate menus and such if they have them. -Depone

I does have a screen, for loading/saving patches, setting up midi channels and more settings. It also has a shift button which is used together with other buttons to toggle certain functions. The synth controls are easy, and nicely laid out.
I guess it's possible for a blind person to learn, but it will take more effort than an analog.

I does have a screen, for loading/saving patches, setting up midi channels and more settings.

It is just a 3 digitis old school digital screen that displays basic info, there is no menu in it. As for saving you can hear the current patch 'slot', so there is no risk of overwriting something.

i use a screen reeder called voice over on apple mac i dont really like the nord lead i dont like how it feels and i'm not inprest with the sound set blessings sound warrior

the dsi tabletop synths sound amazing but are a real headache to navigate through.

analog polyphonic synths are super-expensive and hard to come by. tbh alot of the fun of analog synths is the monophony-- you make an incredible sound and then arpeggiate it, modulate it, etc to create depth rather than create note-based, "musical solutions."

I use my minibrute daily; it's definitely not a moog voyager but it's a really, really handy synth to have, and its ease-of-use helps keep sessions moving along.
