Right, Little unofficial statement from me until I have it all sorted, but in short i'm putting the Depone music alias on hold.
Now this isn't the end of my music by any means, quite the opposite. Its just that the name is tied to pretty much one genre (dubstep), and I feel these days I'm making so many more non dubstep tracks that it doesn't make sense for me to be placing my music under that name. The fans won't be getting what they are used to, or what they want from the name.
So basically I'm expanding to the whole realm of bass music, electronica, pop whatever and other things I have going on.
I have a proper full albums worth of tracks I really want you all to hear, and I will probably be self releasing it via bandcamp or any alternatives in a pay-what-you-want kind of style.
I have always wanted a project with longevity, the hype 'game' is utter BS and has no lasting impact. Just look at the state of the top 100 dubstep tracks in beatport :-/ No thanks, that aint for me. I'm still ironing out the kinks getting things sorted so you will have to excuse the last 4-5 months of pretty much inactivity on my page/website/soundcloud.
I'm also sick of things like labels not paying me my royalties, I have had quite a few physical and digital releases launch into the charts, but I have yet to see any cash come my way. I have seen royalty statements a plenty owing me my due, but i have yet to see the £$£. I hate to complain as there's little money in this, but money is tight for everyone.
To summarise, I want to hold down a style that will last a long time, much like Mr scruff, RJD2 and others who followed their own path and made some amazing tunes in the process. I don't take myself that seriously, and hope it will be a lot of fun in the process. I'm also looking to incorporate more actual live instruments/vocalists to this mix as I've felt I have lacked a 'live' element to my music.
All in all I feel I have outgrown the Depone name that gave me a slice of the industry. I'm not bitter, just moving forward with different styles.
Its been great meeting other producers and making contacts with great people, and I want to see this moving forward.
Id lastly say thanks to all the people here who have supported me, worked with me and all that stuff. Depone was pretty much born here on the forums and I cut my teeth coming on these pages to learn, share and enjoy the alpacas. Biggups to the heads who know me, I'm pushing forwards! Ill still probably post under depone here as we all know post count matters

Hope all is well -
Dep (Matt)
(PS sorry wub if this is in the wrong subforum but I mainly post here and will have the most reach)
