Pangaea and Hessle's peers have resorted to mealy, house-music gruel (Hotflush) and thinly veiled populism (Hyperdub)
bit harsh?!
It a par, but let's not kid ourselves here, it's fairly spot on.

I think it has to do with exposure; house (shitty or not) is pretty much the most common form of club music. Seen quite a few people I know go down the house route past their 20th; never really got why (nor did I care for it).

I guess so. I've always been aware of it and listened to a little bit, just that repetitive 4x4 beats never kept me interested in a club environment. maybe I'm just enjoying this particular Craig Richards set and haven't been converted fully just yet.
Can't dance to it for shit either. You kind of have to bust actual dance moves, and I hate dance moves.

"Im well up for some soild drum and bass" Your idea of good drum and bass is DJ fresh what the fuck are you talking about have you even heard of anyone on that line up?
some people..
dubfordessert wrote:i dunno man, hotflush and hyperdub aren't my favourite labels but still! what do they mean by thinly veiled populism?
I view it as pop music trying to be underground (or the other way around). The last few albums have gone a bit more pop (and I use pop here like I use it to describe stuff like SBTRKT, Katy B, Kito etc). I like them though. Except the Laurel Halo and Hype Williams ones; those are Hyperdub's lowest points imo.

fuck I hate it when someone says that I generally don't care for house music. I may like a release here and there, but I still view it as background music and have absolutely no desire to dig deeper into it.

It's way easier to dance to than dubstep for example!
It's like everything though, an entire night of one genre gets boring to me

i just couldn't stand any repetitive 4x4 beats for a long time, once you get over that though you're good to go

See dubstep is perfect for me as I can just stay loose and bop around a bit, House is too slow for that to happen so the arms have to be employed and it's all downhill from there for me!

Well I still think Hate would be a stong word! Im not here to say you should go dig and like it, I dont give a monkeys! its just like saying "I Hate Beef" having only eaten Mc donalds burgers and the odd value steak thats all.
Check out Sashas- Involver 2 thats a favorite of mine but thats prog house, out of all the other hundreds of splinters of house..
