haha! u'll have to get one, especially now! since they have like the classics on sale, no use wasting time The feel of the controller is amazing, it's like u just wanna slap & punch those buttons in the start. it's like a super easy but a super well built controller, a boys toy...
beware though! they're so different from the mpc's and machine. i can play some impressive shit, but as soon as i get in front of an mpc i'm not that good anymore... those arcade buttons are just something special (and addictive)!

Hello all,

Recently picked up a Maschine at a local shop on a whim, I had tried a midi keyboard and ableton a few years back and got frustrated with it and decided to get rid of all of it and picked myself up a set of cdj-400's and a djm-400 for the house to help let off steam after work. Well after a year or so of that, life getting in the way, I got somewhat tired of messing with other peoples music and wanted to have another go at it, hence the purchase of Maschine. So far I'm 50/50 on keeping and continuing or returning and closing the door and accepting the fact that I have 0 musical tallent. Played guitar when I was a kid, never really did like it, but have been listening to EDM in all it's forms and flavors for probably 20 years or so but never was allowed a keyboard or synth, I keep trying to get into it but get frustrated when whatever I make at least to me, comes out like horrid garbage. The Mrs is encouraging but I think she's biased! In anycase I hope I can learn a bit more and make a decision to stick with it and get rid of the cdj's and truly be creative.

My name's Tom and I'm new to these forums. I'm really just here to immerse myself more into the Dubstep scene and learn about good events going on.

I'm quite new to the Dubstep scene so please go easy on me. Like most people, I'm more interested in the kinds of people that Dubstep brings together. I come from quite a privileged background (but I'm not a snob) but I prefer to associate with the working class that dubstep seems to attract. It's kind of a music scene (although technically it's not really music and I like that) and I think I was initially attracted by the rebellion factor - you know because my parents hate it kind of thing! Now I must admit that some of the sounds coming from the Dubstep scene are quite good and my iPod is slowly but surely filling up with Dubstep!

I'm just being honest about why I got into Dubstep. Everyone has a reason. That was what initially attracted me, but it's actually stuck so you can accuse me of being a casual listener or whatever but that's just how it is. I'm sorry if that's not cool for you - didn't realise it was so clicky

It won't be remember so much in history as anything other than a fad, or a sub-genre, or just a phase. But you act as though this is a bad thing? It's great at bringing together people from similar backgrounds, similar cultures with similar upbringings - and that's why I love it so much. Is drum & bass a fad? Dubstep will be seen as a 'phase' in the greater history of London based dance music (that will be followed up by another style), but like jungle/dnb and rave before it (and unlike garage and grime) it's made its mark worldwide, on a global scale. People will look back at the early '00s as the 'era of dubstep' in mainstream EDM sure, and it'll die down in a year or two in the mainstream before making a comeback. But it has firmly established itself as its own genre in electronic music and it won't be forgotten and it's not a 'phase'. It's up there with drum & bass, hardcore, techno and house music now.
