Tessela I think will be huge,
and on that note,
I think breaks as a trend/niche will return in 2013, and you'll begin to see alot of artists making more acid house type stuff rather than rigid 4x4 stuff - although techno and dubtechno will have a bigger slice of the pie next year also.
You heard it here first!

bunch of names posted in here are already big. Tessela? c'mon, single on Punch Drunk and 2nd Drop this year. i'd say he's made it. paleman and happa already have all the big support so they'll obv make it.
anyway i reckon by the end of next year there will be straight up jungle revival. tessela's already basically doing it

I think predictions of what style will be big are not appropriate.
The people don't look for any particular style or a change, they look for a music they like. Once an individual releases a great song that is well receives by a large number of people the style of that song turns popular. On the other hand it is somewhat safe to exclude styles that people are getting tired of , it includes hmmm dubstep...
The next big thing will be just a great song and its producer followers.

Well no, because it can work like someone makes something they like, it gets big, everyone loves that kinda thing and either people who didnt know about it before get on it cos they like this new thing, or people just start making it cos its the big thing.bananas wrote:I think predictions of what style will be big are not appropriate.

Like house, a few people started to gravitate towards house, and now everyone makes house

Re: Who to watch out for in 2013?
Well you said that we shouldnt think about what style will be big as someone doesnt make a style cos its big, they just make it cos they like it and then it gets big. but then it may only get big, because loads of people jump on a style that has just come about and geting hype, so im just saying it can work both ways. Like how someone said jungle sounds might be big or whatever, Tessela could make jungley beats and then it get big, or people could hear some of the tunes he is making now and be like, people love this, i will make some too, then everyone makes jungly beats and it gets big.bananas wrote:Don't if in understand you well, but it seems we said the same thing??skimpi wrote:Well no, because it can work like someone makes something they like, it gets big, everyone loves that kinda thing and either people who didnt know about it before get on it cos they like this new thing, or people just start making it cos its the big thing.bananas wrote:I think predictions of what style will be big are not appropriate.

Re: Who to watch out for in 2013?
i like tessela's stuff the most out of everything that has been mentioned here.. to my ear the most original
Re: Who to watch out for in 2013?
Quite a lot of moody "future garage" has been suggested. Some of it is decent while not even trying to be original, but it's not gonna blow up next year. That sound had it's chance about 2 years ago (?) and it never really made it even if it was pretty popular at some point. Burial was and still is best in that niche.
Also a fair bit of bland current-sound-house suggestions. It works but it's not exciting for me at least.
Techno is what's gonna blow up next year. More OstGut Ton and the likes are gonna creep up in sets.
The latest Sheworks (is that the name?) was a very influenced by aggressive, harsh, noisy techno by the likes of British Murder Boys. I think that sound is a lot more logical to go back to for UK producers than the very repetitive and minimal nature of "Berlin" techno. The UK sound tends be all over the place and very progressive in track structure, imo.

Techno had a big come back this year - the more savage face pounding savage techno. probably just going to get bigger next year.
edit - so savage i used the word savage twice to describe it...
