Good tunes just not what I would call a unique sound.

i dunno man, its clearly not my own sound, i meant just trying to make tunes that dont have that shit american 'using massive for 5 min shit bass wobble music,
all the main melody's in my tunes aren't made using vsts, there made using home made samples, time stretched, eqed, re-sampled again and again, till i get what i want haha,
i just meant 'putting in the effort' trying to create your own sound, does that make sense buddy? :)

Sure does.
Thanks.

I commend you for actually making the effort.
So many producers are just regurgitating X & Y.

I'll use Massive presets and turn some of the knobs to get a slightly different sound, or I'll layer non-Massive sounds. And I do a lot of weird scales and arpeggios, not sticky strictly to the bass register. I ignore music theory, that's how I get unique bass sounds.

tbh man i think music theory has northing to do with it, if it sounds good it sounds good, if the notes dont sound like they go together, they dont.... lol thats all ya need to know about music theory

Well, yeah. Music Theory says one thing, but EDM is a means of proving why the theory is wrong. That's why I like electronic music. You can do the impossible.
