Good point.
Actually, what people consider mainstream grime might actually match dubstep for its shitness compared to the underground.
What is mainstream grime really? The big tunes on Rinse daytime, like Footsie and shit? Or the ridiculous pop shite like N-Dubz and new Tinie Tempah that lacks the crazy rhythms and noisy squarewaves?
I think grime is completely at odds with the mainstream, more than proper dubstep or any other genre. It's so abrasive and ungroovable, that's the point.

Voodoo People got to number 13, that tune is fuckin sick. Surely 90's dance is it. Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Leftfield, etc. were all dons.

bad company never really made anything mainstream. They were really only around like 5 or 6 years... probably closer to 4 or 5 before it was just fresh and maldini doing their own things.
Fresh made mainstream things... as a legit group Shot Down On Safari was really the last thing they did. The most mainstream thing they did was probably what, mo fire? I think Rage did well since it was dnb arena sampler. Fresh was the one who had mainstream success

no reason really it was more just an expression
it's like, everyone loves to hate justin bieber, so you slap yourself when you catch yourself humming "baby"

Yeah they're a bit poppy-sounding for my tastes but they can pull of the poppy stuff pretty well tbh. I only really like a few of their tracks, but they are really good as a live act. Ended up seeing them twice and been pretty impressed both times... obviously just dont go expecting anything like a drum and bass night haha
