Benga - Diaries of an Afro Warrior
Benga - Diaries of an Afro Warrior
Coming out 8th October
Obviously it's gonna be big so I thought I'd just bust a thread about it.
A lot of the tunes that might be on there are pretty techno/house influenced, a couple sounding like pure techno (to my ears - not that that's a bad thing). Some tunes getting played at the moment that have been mentioned as being on there (and where to hear them):
Pleasure - N-TYPE 30-7-07 from 53:14
E-Trips - Stella Session 18-7-07 from 1:47:05
28 Basslines - Skream 31-7-07 from 1:06:00
Electric Scratch - Youngster - 19-7-07 from 1:03:05
The Cut - original - Youngster - 19-7-07 from 58:53
The Cut - with new 2nd drop (prefer the original though) - N-TYPE 30-7-07 from 59:29
and a couple of untitled ones like the massive one from Younster 19-7-07 from 1:11:00/Stella 18-7-07 from 1:48:55 with the mad 303 intro. I don't think the other tunes that were about a while back but which didn't come out on the Big Apple EP will be on the album but they might, like Drumz West.
Any more info please share it!

Not being negative or anything, but will an album do anything a well picked series of 12"s wouldn't?
I suppose in CD format it would reach people who don't buy vinyl. But i think lots of dance music (including dubstep) can sound a bit dry when you hear the tunes in their 5 or 6 minute entireties - they are made for single releases and to be mixed.

yeah, but that's why most CD releases also have a vinyl release as welldocdoom wrote:Not being negative or anything, but will an album do anything a well picked series of 12"s wouldn't?

There should be more albums being made...if every producer was making choons just so they could get mixed in a DJ set then that would be dry.
Memories Of The Future is up there with my favourite albums of any genre. I think it should be every Producer's ambition to complete an Album...I dont really view Memories Of The Future as a bunch of songs on a CD, to me its its one piece of music. This is why albums are great and especially with Dubstep as an album gives artists scope to explore a much wider spectrum as opposed to a 12".
