How to keep LFO wobbling in sync?

Post by promo » Sat Aug 04, 2007 4:33 pm

I've discovered that when I try to create wobbly basses that depending on the rate and the note played that it can all sound a bit out of sync with a track's main tempo or beat.

Can anyone suggest a Vst LFO that sync's with tempo or recommend a good vst with a good syncable LFO. I hope I'm making sense. Cheers in advance.

I'm using Abletron. Yeah, just been getting my head around this problem as when I started to mess around with wobbling basses I realised they weren't staying in sync.

The LFO sync on EXS24 sampler is shit. Only way round it is to retrigger, and even then it can be like trying to dribble a rugby ball up a basketball court.

I sample a bass that i've made that has LFO wobble at the same BPM as the track im writing. usually at C3 or so, then i'll load it into renoise's sampler and play it like any other instrument in renoise. usually that makes my lfo out of sync, but im always triggering the bass in time with the track. I like to steer away from perfectly synced up LFO wobble bass these days. but its a personal preference i suppose. :)

With ableton, I create a rack for whatever instrument I'm playing. THen I map a knob in the rack to the parameter I want to control, and assign a controller to the knob. In ableton, the midi mapping page will appear, where you can then set the ranges for the parameter. I then adjust the knob until the LFO is in sync. On the knob, the value will be displayed. I then enter this value in the range for the parameter. I do this for both the upper and lower ranges. There fore I can have two synced LFO's with smooth transistions between them.
