I just joined the forum last week. I've been making beats for 8 years. I've been into Dubstep for almost three years. Before I found out about it, the EDM I listened to was a lot of Hardstyle, Hard Techno, Big Beat, House, Electronica. I've mostly listened to heavier music, and I've always been into weird music, so Dubstep is perfect from me.

Well I'm shocked at some of these responses to newcomers. I'd really suggest that you people show a little humility around outsiders like myself - it will give you a good leg up in life.

You came on a music forum, announced that most of us were 'working class' and that the music we like/make is not really music.

...and then refused to explain your statement.

Hey guys,

I'm J-sKool and I thought I'd check the forum out since I heard this is where some of the big names in the dubstep community got their start. I'm still somewhat new to the dubstep scene as I've mostly been into making rock music. I've been making electronic music for 10 years now, but never anything serious since honestly I've never been too fond of anything electronic. I started with the intention to learn how to make some typical "techno" kind of as a joke. I found I enjoyed it very much yet I still had no appreciation for the music. I turned the skills I had acquired to hip-hop beats, however I'm not a huge fan of rap as I'm kind of a rocker/metal head and what good is a beat with no vocals.... Then I discovered dubstep, a perfect blend of heavy tones which I like about metal and the chill grooves that I like about hip-hop. Now I'm starting to appreciate the many genres of electronic music. I'll post some of my work soon.

J-sKool
