Dubstep Robot DJ Monster

Post by RobotCharmer » Mon Nov 26, 2012 2:54 pm

Hey guys, I made a dj robot with mechanical arms that can see and sense the world around it.

The LOOP NESS MONSTER is the world's first interactive robotic DJ system.

Loopy's mission is to take over dancefloors around the world.

Check it out!

If you like it don't forget to share it around! :w:

Isn't this just a really expensive Traktor automix and sync button?

no...if you watched the video, you should notice that this is a flashy, truly amazing thing. It really is what the edm industry has been lacking up until now. This is a truly historic moment in dubstep. :Q:

This actually might bring hope to amputees & folks with extreme physical disabilities that would like to DJ.

No, seriously!

Thanks!

I might actually edit the vid and change things around a bit to make it more dramatic and show off Loopy's capabilities more - so that people fully understand what's going on. Will start properly spreading the vid round once it's fixed up.

Not a bad idea at all. I've been thinking about getting into prosthetic arms for a while. There's not a lot of cyborg-type research in Australia unfortunately and I don't have the medical background to attempt something like that myself. I've done some work with brain-robot control (using EEG) but that's too low bandwidth for a full arm/hand. Do to it would be necessary to tap directly into the nervous system at the shoulder or elbow.

It would be great if it happens though. I'll forever be known as the guy who goes around looking for amputees and giving them robotic arms in order to play dubstep at parties.

You know, there's enough open source/DIY/general hackery type stuff out there that I don't think that's a dealbreaker anymore. Yes, a detailed clinical knowledge might help; however, that detailed clinical knowledge does already exist out there in the form of information, both human and recorded. Find a med student working along the same general lines as you and let him specialize on that side of things and you can specialize in the engineering and design side.
