Joel does a 20 min interview for factmag and touches on various different topics such as the growth and evolution of music scenes, selling out, event driven marketing (EDM

), and more. I actually enjoyed it, he makes alotta good points about electronic music becoming an industry and what not. Check it, it's split into 2 10 min vids

My friend of mine got it right: he works as a recording engineer for rock/punk and other live stuff and only has a slight interest in electronic music said "that guy (deadmou5) has so much hardware, but you could make all the sounds he uses with just a PC with fruity loops"
..........
Faxing berlin is a cool tune though.

Who cares what this guy thinks? He has zero influence on the music (and events) I love.

"you don't make and album and tour off the back of that" it's so depressing that shit actually works.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

I fully agree. He speaks a lot of sense in this interview, got a lot more respect for him after watching this.

"I'm not selling out, I'm just, y'know, trying to keep everyone happy"
He doesn't need to sell out, his type of music is just about the most popular in the world right now.
He's an alright fellow though, don't agree that scenes don't evolve or we'd all be on here discussing garage.

The FWD nights weren't a business model? Do you think that if they'd been an unsuccessful business model 10 years ago, we'd even have labels like Hotflush and Hessle today?

I respect deadmau5, he made a lot of really legitimate points and he's entitled to his own opinions on everything. I think he expressed them in a very logical way.

Man always comes across as a bit of a tnuc, although he does make quite good points in this.
Always liked Random Album Title (shittest name for an album ever), the stuff he makes these days is fucking garbage though

He comes across too arrogant and too disrespectful to everyone one else in the electronic music scene for me to even respect what he says, even if I agree with it

he's a dick, his album titles are shit, his tattoos are gay, his sense of fashion is fucked, but i've always respected the man because he's intelligent and can produce a damn good tune. Reading his Rolling Stone article, yeah he's a tnuc to the point where it's almost delusional, but he's self aware, and is good at what he does.
i think he's a high school nerd who hated the world and is now getting back at it by producing club bangers and flying in his private jet
I found a way to get piece of mind for years and left the hell alone, turn a deaf ear to the cellular phone
