Cool, thank you. Your track sounds good, I crave more energy here though. Maybe sidechaining more extreme, add some Daft Punk ish arp synth line? Hmm, nice work.

Ya it's still a work in progress.. I haven't added any lead synth, or backing, I just have layered bass synths, and a lot of ambiance pad sounds... Really trying to come out with something other than "Pony Music", cause there is honestly no future in it.. Like just cause I play @ shows of 5,000+ people, and have 600 Youtube followers, doesn't mean crap in the real world of music.. I am proud of what I do though.. And it has given me inspiration, but I really want to lay down an official EP finally, that I can say "Time for Beatport"...

Where side chaining is concerned, I have about -3 to -6dbs of gain reduction across each compressor, Which I don't think is bad, but you recommend compressing even more? I know with my "SMOR3S EP", and the tracks on it "DerpStep", and "Between Fairytales and Happy Endings (SMOR3S REMIX)", I had about -12 to -15dbs of gain reduction, and it gave it a really thumpy sound....

smor3s - I think something might have gone wrong with the mixing. It sounds really (really) low. Like a played it against your dubstep with derpy song and Aura sounds really really low, even if its a pre-master. There is a lot of high end to the sound that isn't bad I just feel it could do with a little more in the low end and a little more punchiness to the drums (particularly the clap). If youre looking to add more elements you might want to consider a change up (not a drop) to just add movement to the sound.

The opening ambiance is really nice though, but right when it transitions @ 0:32/0:33, add like 1-2 bars of silence, with a lot of delay/reverb, and let to smoothly slide into the main DnB chorus... adding some risers, or something like a reverse cymbal could really be a gap closer for going into a lead/drop... I am starting to get into DnB more my self, so I had something to actually ask you... In your song, right @ 0:12, are those hi hats, or shakers?, cause I understand the kick pattern perfectly, I am just concerned on the hi hats format of DnB.... Thanks /)

The hats in the beginning are some hi-hat breaks that a friend of mine did that I chopped up.
Also, one loop is from a Deadmau5 sample pack. I reversed it. That might be what you're hearing.

If you thinking about hi-hat patterns, take two closed hat samples and alternate them at 16th note intervals, with occasional rests every 1 or 2 bars and a 1/2 bar section where they alternate at 32nd note intervals. That's a basic one. Some people program everything and some chop samples. It's all relative. What you were asking about were hats with reverb and phaser.

Awesome, I use the Xfer pack too, and also "http://freesound.org/" for alternative samples, and weird organic sounds, that I don't want to record... I have my DnB hats setup like my House/Trance hats "

Closed Hats: 1, 1.1.3, 1.2, 1.2.3, 1.3, 1.3.3, 1.4, 1.4.3

Open Hats: 1.2, 1.3.3

It just feel for DnB that setup is to slow, don't you agree?

Also Idk if you already do this, but I start my left panned hi hats, almost a half a bar after the right panned starts, to give it natural stereo width :3...

Houston Weather I feel like the pads in the intro a little bit too loud. Other than that I like it! Not a fan of the clap though. Kick is definitely lacking too. The main bass synth is also lacking power. Fancy working tops .

SMOR3S Could you please do a little mastering before uploading? It could just be me (honestly, it could be) but everything is so quiet. But just judging on what I can hear, I like the melody for sure, but, some of the notes sound out of key (or it could be a minor pitch bend, can't tell.)

thrillion Intro is something to be admired! The drop is really good imo! I like how it kind of sounds like it has swing. What tempo did you use for this? It sounds like 140, but at the same time I'm questioning it because I feel like it's 100-110 because of the swingy goodness! The synths in general need a lot more power. They sound weak, EQ them! Good work man!

Vocals sound like they have too much reverb on soundcloud omfg, I swear after I upload something to soundcloud ALWAYS I hear something that needs to be fixed.... FUCK SAKE

Okay cool, that's a very interesting technique... And yes I use Ableton :3.... I'll use my Closed Hi Hat pattern, with no Opens, and then warp them to a higher tempo than what they are currently in.... Thanks a lot bro /)

Btw, here is an update WIP of my "Aura track":

I went ahead and redid the whole sub bass, and re EQ'd my kicks, as well as re-mixed the track down, so now I am sitting @ -8dbs on the master output... I took my high end synth, duplicated it, and cut off all freq like 2.5K Khz + @ 20dbs, to give the synth, more of a mid freq sound, and made the lower freq synth 5bs higher than the high end synth, to give the track more warmth, and fullness... I do agree with what everyone was saying... I was swamping my track with more high end freq than lower, and that was really making my track loose flavor...

I'm not sure about the pads at the beginning, if they exactly fit, but I guess that's personal taste. Same goes with the piano riff, I'd personally change it. Though, like you mentioned, you did get the vocals working nicely. I think the bass synth playing with the vocal needs to be changed cause it doesn't sound right. The mix needs a lot of work, but since you did this in 2 hours, it's pretty good.

I feel that this is pretty empty, could do with some filling up. The track really breaks apart imo at 1:04, when that chord kinda synth comes in, it really sounds off, possibly out of key.

Sorry for the poor feedback, if I knew more to say or comment on, I honestly would, but I have no idea.

This one hasn't been mixed at all, I just chucked stuff in. I've never done anything off-timing before so I'm not exactly experienced with it. I can't exactly tell whether it's horrible or not cause my ears take so long to adjust and I know how it sounds, so nothing in it would sound off to me. So, any honesty would be greatly appreciated, just in regard to whether the off-timing stuff sounds nice or not, and any suggestions to improve it. Thanks in advanced.

smor3s: Love the laid back chillness that I get from your aura track, If anything the hats need to be slightly louder in the mix (.5 - 1 db) And maybe let your claps have a stronger presence, not necessarily louder, just a stronger attack, a punch if you will.

dotcurrency: Personally, I feel the sub is a little over powering, I like the vocals, maybe take that sub down by 1.5 - 2 db and double check to see if the higher sub freqs are clashing, it sounds like the might be, slightly.

ljk32: Being a band nerd, that messed with me on so many levels, I don't care for the off beats myself, but I like the sounds you're using, once you get the mix right, It might sound pretty good, try lining the beats up a little better though, they are a little too off.

It's a very rough mix, infact the hats had no tweaking at all. Right now I want feedback on the musical aspects, there are high flutes in the background, but did no upload for some reason, I may re-upload it later. I need help transitioning to the build, it sounds rough to my ears. I'm sorry about the repeating, I'm still trying what to fill it with, Ideas?

@smor3s for aura. I liked this song best at full volume bcuz I could hear the subs. I would like to hear how adding a "dirty" version of the sub panned hard left and a different. "Dirty" version panned hard right to make the sub line stand out more would sound. I also would like to hear those Nintendo sounds a little cleaner or lower in the mix to make room for the midrange
in the extra sub layers.

Filthor: The piano is really clean at the beginning, but try adding some release to your open hi hat, it seems to cut off some.. The song could for sure use more movement overall has a whole... It gets repetitive after like 1:20 in.... Do this... 8 Bars of intro, 4 Bars of more variation, and then 4 bars but the last 2 bars have the kick build, into the drop... if that's to short, extend it another 4 bars....

ljk32: It has a good vibe, sounds kind of Jazzy...

@dotcurrency: SoundClouds compression is stupid, so you might have to lower the reverb :3 The vocals are really beautiful, and btw, what bass synth are you using? I would love to get that patch :3

It doesn't sound any more off beat than that Reso remix of KOAN Sound's "80's Fitness", which at first I disliked but now I love it. It's just that in your loop with only the piano accompanying the drums, the off beat nature becomes more in your face.

I had this song idea going, but do you think it's to fast, to transition into a lead bassline, or something like a 1 - 1.2 - 1.2.3 Zedd Bassline... I like the build my self, but how would this play out in a drop, would I have to keep the drop fast or can I make it slow? The tempo is 128bpms...

sean mansha: Being honest that drop is just plain sick IMO- Only thing I would look at changing or just modifying a bit is the intro (first few seconds with the slow pianoy bit) I'd go thought some ravey sounding chord stabs would be a nice replacement ~ but again if you left it how it was I could easily listen to that in my car. Filthor: That is a awesome start no doubt, Drums are awesome especially that snare. As for leads I'd probably say make a melody then scroll through some Nexus or Sylenth1 presets and see what sort of sound goes well with it (Thats what I'd do anyway)

It's great - I agree with the whole verby/watery vocals, They feel slightly over powered by the rest of the track so i'd probly make them a little bit louder in the mix. The whole track has a fuckin great energy but i'd say before the vocals do first come in take some of the energy away to make the vocals have more of an impact and burst of energy.. but like i said at the start I'd happily listen to it how it is IMO

Thanks man, I guess with more elements it could be less noticeable. But I'm more kinda aiming for something in between Burial and Flume with big reverby pitched vocals playing over the loop there. So, I changed the off timing a bit. And I love the off-timing in that Reso Remix, sounds huge.

Thanks man, I guess with more elements it could be less noticeable. But I'm more kinda aiming for something in between Burial and Flume with big reverby pitched vocals playing over the loop there. So, I changed the off timing a bit. And I love the off-timing in that Reso Remix, sounds huge.

I'd still chuck in a lowpassed reesy bass under the drums - should suit the chilled vibe you're going for.

I still need add synths, and pads during the main bassline, as well as maybe some off claps, and or snares.. I want to cover a lot of spectrum with white noise, and keep the main bassline dry, kind of like that one Hardwell track, or Zedd Stache, when the hook bassline comes in..

@manudiao: Make sure you give feedback to at least 3 people... :3 I could use some..

but here is the feedback I can give.. The initial aspect of the track is good... The track sound full up until the drop, but the build up/progression into it was nice... I feel if the drop had more low end presence, it would hit harder.... Your kicks and snare are tasty though :3

Okay, cause I usually do it the hard way, and just cut, copy, paste with reverb, and delay... :3

I got a new update for my Flare track :3

I adjust some settings with plugins for my bass... Added some more depth to the Live amp plugin, and adjusted the settings in Sausage Fattener... Ohm force gives my bass a hollow feel, but I want to try and achieve both a wet/hollow, without making it sound to wet.. I made two track layers, to layer the bass, as well as cut both the bass layers off @ 70Hz, boosted the 12K area, and then boosted the 200Hz.... Does it sound to wet? and my kicks do sound a bit dry during the bassline aye?

Also, right when the hi hats come in, do u think I should do Kick, Snare, Kick, Snare, or keep the Kick, Kick, Kick pattern...
