Godspeed You Black Emperor "'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!" on Constellation. Some call it post rock, I call it ambient symphonic rock.

yes! in a way though i find it kind of weird that the only "new" pieces of music they had for this release were those two tracks that they were already playing in 2003 (apart from the two drones). i'm looking forward to hearing (eventual) entirely new tracks from themGenevieve wrote:I LIKED MLADIC WHEN IT WAS CALLED ALBANIAN >:0

After nothing but touring since their reunion, I think they just wanted to satisfy a fan demand and get the ball rolling again. It's not like they had loads of time to write music again I'd guess. Unless t hey start focusing on their other projects again (Do Make Say Think, Silver Mt Zion, etc), I think they'll start writing shit again.

Well, let's see.. they create ambience with symphonic and rock instrumentation. I just don't see how "post rock" is very descriptive beyond dynamics. Aaron Turner called Isis avant garde drone rock. Is that embarrassing? I'm embarrassed that people get embarrassed over people describing music.wolf89 wrote:ugggh oh god. I love the band but statements like that make me a little embarrassed too.

Could someone make a new recommended albums list for 2013 thread?
Im not really an active enough member of dsf to be constantly updating the initial post so maybe someone else could start a thread.
