Ahh that's true, I didn't think about it like that. I guess Skrillex does spend 93% of his income on cigarettes...

I posted a thread before about his blatant sampling and mimickery of other tracks, even on his latest EP

This... they seem to do a lot of collabs on tracks and remixes... obviously trading info etc. Wouldn't surprise me if the tracks get help in mixing and are most likely mastered professionally.

Also NSD always manage to bring up the fact they had Skrillex release a track on their label (obviously to grab onto any promo weight that carries) so it wouldn't be out of the question that Zomboy and Skrillex had talked production together.

Wealth is not about how much you earn, it's about how much you don't spend

That interview is pretty old. Maybe it actually was an issue for him back then.

tbh all zomboy uses is massive & vengeance packs, most brostep heads use this and its not hard to make similar sounds if you spend a lot of time learning massive. if you dont have that then any fm synth with a FEW added FX or use a synth in conjunction with vocodex and you will get similar results. my personal favourite tool is fruity waveshaper i haven't used massive in a long time since the waveshaper is so powerful IMO.
honestly keep it simple, zomboy studies at uni fulltime and i can guarantee you he doesnt spend long making his basses.

Personally, I think his stuff is too bright. Not the pleasant kind of bright either. The weird digital high end buildup that occurs in the 20khz + area of the eq spectrum. At quiet volumes it doesn't matter, but if you crank the volume it tires the ears much faster. Just something I've noticed

yeah, his tracks are always pretty harsh and they're brick walled to shit. not the best tracks to mix with.

personally i like all that kind of stuff. i've read him say he uses fm8 and doesn't really like massive.
i've been making growls for a while and it's just a really steep learning curve. he spends a lot of time on the road with top producers. i would say if he hadn't of gotten better like he has he'd be retarded.

to answer your question, purposeful practise.

False, he has said numerous times that he also uses Komplete 8.
