Re: Can Dubstep be popular without Massive?
OP is either trolling or incredibly fucking stupid. My guess is the latter.

Re: Can Dubstep be popular without Massive?
yeah you just answered the question yourself OP, it is the backbone for a lot of the more popular stuff now. But that has nothing to do with the initial popularity, back when Midnight Request Line was made I doubt Skream even knew what Massive was, and that tune is arguably what kickstarted dubstep's popularity
to be honest I wouldn't even put dubstep under EDM man, everyone who says they're into EDM is into music thats very different from what dubstep is. Just "bass music" is fine with me aha

And the purpose of this question is? I'm going to go with yes, dubstep was popular before Massive marched in - Going in for the kill remix - anyone?
Re: Can Dubstep be popular without Massive?
Yes, for as long as there's still FM8, dubstep can go on a little longer. But if you take away both, you take away ITS LIFEBLOOD.

The best parties I've ever experienced were in basements that could hardly fit 100 people with respect for dance room. Sweaty, dark, smoke filled rooms from 2006-07.

Lol what a cliche "deep head" post. What does that have to do with this thread?Megachannel wrote:The best parties I've ever experienced were in basements that could hardly fit 100 people with respect for dance room. Sweaty, dark, smoke filled rooms from 2006-07.

Massive is a decent synth that you can do a lot with - most of james blakes album is with massive (& a prophet 08)
It sounds plasticy raw but if you process/mix it well its as good as you make it.
