A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
so not the 1200/1210s cos i dont need any of that pitch fader shizzle, just a decent and preferrably cheap turntable that can playback nicely, and more importantly let me get some good quality rips of some of my rarer tings
Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
So just a record player? I got one at kmart for $30-40 with a USB out.
Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
If you're ripping for proper listening I'd advise against the USB ones, there's a reason they're so cheap. If it's simply for sample grabbing though, they should be fine.

Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
whats the difference man, line in to ur sound card???
Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
yeah the difference is one can give you a line in to your soundcard, the other will be a USB connection which apparently just doesn't cut it quality-wise when it comes to ripping them to digital
Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
The difference is most USB ones are made from shit internals and have shit stylus/catridges. There are probably exceptions but like I said I wouldn't buy a turntable at 30$ whether it's USB or not.

What's your budget?
And never underestimate the power of a 12xx series turntable. Stock with a decent cart and phono you would be surprised.

I got a basic stanton turntable (phono, not usb), put it through my mixer, mixer goes out into my saffire 2i2 interface, into logic...done
Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
If you could stretch, maybe one of the Pro-Ject models?
Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
I've found old second hand ones that sound good for cheap in second hand hi fi stores
Re: A Good Setup for Vinyl Playback and Ripping?
hmm the Pro-Ject ones look good, so do the Stantons... Never thought about the second-hand option really, might do cos I just remembered how there is a shop nearby with secondhand cdjs and shit on display
