When was the last time someone did an electronic/'dance' concept album?
First one that comes to mind http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M83_(album)
The last 2 M83 albums were concept as well
(The thread says 'electronic', not EDM)

One of my friends just finished his concept album, my albums have loose concepts to them, etc..

Pikachunes Compilation is essentially a concept album, yeah?

I'm just saying it's something that interests me, and I'd like to see more of it :4:
Electronic concept album and people come up with M83 ?

How about Shackleton's music for the quiet hour?

Surely if they produce grime, they're grime producers.

Appropriation and added innovation is what creates the next generation of music.
yh if you wanna play thick lol

it's obvious when certain guys start bringing out what are essentially refixes of 2003/4/5 tunes in 2011 and get love from their fanbases and yet the guys who were making that sound back in the day get air (i.e. j-sweet and alias recent attempts at a comeback) that the new guys are making a concerted attempt to muddy the waters and make their music seem more fresh.

ppl in the dubstep/electronic scene love to highlight 'originators' and bang on about how deep in the music their roots go. this never applies to grime though. it gets shown 0 respect by these long fringed leeches. other than the odd tweet about how much they loved slew dem in 06. like they weren't banned from rinse so these funky/dubstep sounds could get more airtime.

More:
competition in the form of non-electronic music. can't we just go back to normal people enjoying their indie rawk instead of herpderpchillstepmixesonyoutube
breaks, it's only logical
distortion/grit/dirt, or alternatively clean production done well
willingness to step outside of the box regarding percussion sounds. i know that's kind of conflicting with me wanting more breaks but people are so closed minded about their drums it's horrible. always the same kicks snares and hats. gimme sounds i don't even have a name for!
acid acid acid
maybe a lil breakcore revival? nothing big, just a couple decent new releases would be nice.
decent skrillex releases, i actually liked that birdy nam nam remix

Less:
people using the same sample packs, last night my roommate played 3 tunes from some blog and all of them had the same brazillian guy chanting 'doon chak' underneath, it was horrible
drum machine sounds. it's over guys, you killed the 808.
DAMN SON WHERE'D YOU FIND THIS?
definetly less gabber kicks, crossbreed sucks and whoever thought it was funny to mix "trap" and harstyle deserves to be shot
people trying to sound like current value and killing hard dnb in the process
lasers
less tech house please please oh my god less tech house for fucks sake why do people even listen to that stuff
obviously less growls and yois, less moombaroombaglitchhopcomplextrolectrodubstepwhatever-"EDM" for drunk americans

Nah, I get what you're saying, was just winding you up. :D

Personally, I'm just happy about more grime sounds, whoever makes it. Can't beat a bit of revivalism every now and then, even if it's just for a new tune to hear (Percy, etc.). Things just move on and people get forgotten I guess. Ruff Sqwad CD reissue should be good though.
