You were right the first time haha:
Lichee wrote:The thing is it's all opinion.
Lichee wrote: "this song works better and makes much more sense to me with a live vocalist" - the beauty of Burials vocals is the short clips, pitching and repetition, it means it never sounds like a vocalist, you don't know who's singing it, if it's male or female, a girl or a woman or where the vocals came from. They sort of support the entire track, the tune doesn't become about a singer.

Burial's production is definitely not lazy and unthoughtful, i'm not sure we're listening to the same music here.
Sounds good on paper, but in reality it just doesn't do anything for me when I listen to it, really don't get what the fuss is about.

I think Burial's drums/percussion and production overall is incredible btw, just his use of vocals ruins it for me

i dont mind that musically, but yeah, if he had of used different lyrics, and didn't reference it at all to Archangel, that'd be something alright.. what these people somewhat don't understand, is archangel is archangel.

pretty much all the covers of electronic music gives me the cringe, but if i hadn't heard the originals it might be a different story.

Nah I'm not feeling that one - vox feel weird.

I think all the anti covering is bollocks - if people want to do their own version of something then they should - being like "its not the origional" is such shit - a huge chunk of the best songs ever are covers from other genres.

Rather ludicrous reason to dislike the tunes imo.

All about a good cover, heard some crackers. OP is okay, but the rough vocal recording puts me off, that Chet Baker one is fucking awful. That Tom and Laura one is good though.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

it's basically their song so to get more views they said it was a cover of archangel and put a few words in it, which are from a Ray J tune so really they've covered Ray J

Yeah, that’s actually very good musically. He should have just wrote his own lyrics and mentioned nothing of his sources (like Burial does) and he’d have had a d*mn hit.
