Jesus christ. The track in your signature has to be the most uncreative use of the amen break in existence. You didn't even bother getting rid of the start of the break which has some other instrument playing.

Best tip you'll ever hear: if you wanna make GOOD music, the most important thing to do is training your ears. If you have shitty listening skills, which most people have without experience and training, you can't make good music.

You can laugh at me all you want, but honestly, when i skim through tracks on the feedback board of some less experienced forums, my first idea is always "This guy has no idea why the music he likes sounds the way he likes it and no idea how to apply that knowledge."

The key to professional sounding music is mixdown. You cannot mixdown properly if you don't know how music is supposed to sound. Or rather, how to achieve the sound it's supposed to sound like. When people dive into music production, they get to making massive patches sounding PHUAWT and HAAWD but they disregard how it 's gonna sound in their mix. Just objectively listening to music you like and analyzing WHY it sounds so good is the best thing you'll ever do for your own production. (Wow, this pad is really wide! There's a shitload of highs on this ride. That shaker pattern is squashed as hell. There's a slight sidechaining going on on this vocal reverb tail.) <= This kind of stuff will not only give you ideas for your own production, it will, more importantly, make it easier for you to achieve the same level of production since you'll actually be able to HEAR that it sounds good. Hearing something sounds good is not as easy as it might sound, and i wish i've gotten this tip right here 3 years ago.

Rmonik thats all stuff that comes with practise though mate, not something you can fast forward

ive always been very anylitical about music since i first picked up a guitar when i was 14 but it doesnt mean i was able to apply that knowledge into my own songs. practise makes perfect and all that.

Beethoven was a composer, not a music producer.

And exactly JTMMusicuk, but a lot of people just seem to skip that part. They jump right into throwing massive patches together, and they're way too easily satisfied with how their songs sound, since they don't know they sound horrible. Then they find a label that wants to release their horribly produced dogpoo and they're surprised they can't find any. Taking the time to learn how professional music sounds is the best thing i ever did for my production, eventhough i'm a looong way from being on their level.

But he had very good perception, it's just his senses that were poor at that time.

Stop trying to do those Burial r&b vocal cuts. You'll never get it right and even if you do, no one wants to hear it anymore.

Beethoven was deaf
Beethoven wasn't born deaf - he went deaf.

Earlier in his life his ears were amazingly well-trained.

-Put a limiter on your master and lower the ceiling .02 - STOP red lining "but it sounds dirty man! *SLAP*"
-If you use Ableton take the time to create your own template, it will save you more time then you think
-Use an EQ - Saturator chain on your drums (wish someone told me this a few years ago)
-WHY U NO PAN?
-Use subtle reverb on most of your instruments and if you go crazy with it make sure to cut it with a gater

Oh yeah, also if you have one element in your tune that you really like but It doesn't sit right in the mix or compliment the vibe of your tune, take it out you attached pussy :i:

This thread is stupid.

Good in theory, but actually terrible.
