Cut scene after cut scene after cut scene.
Yeah its kind of why I stopped gaming a couple years ago.

did it take long to beat legendary?
In a short answer, yes. It took us a couple weekends to finish. After about halfway through the game the checkpoints start to become pretty unforgiving. There was definitely a couple points where there was so much going on that the console could hardly handle it
You're mad Jayladders, they totally fucked it up. Yes the gameplay is pretty similar, but again, they're going the Final Fantasy route
(I quit after IX..I wanted nothing to do with them after that) by having a game revolve around cut scenes, when they should just be additional.
The ending was one of the worst endings I've ever seen in a game. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone, but you even said you didn't have the patience to beat it on legendary yet. So imagine beating it on legendary (neither of us had played it on any other difficulty), and getting that for an ending. It was one of the most anti-climatic gaming experiences I've ever had. Either way, the actual game play is the same fun as the previous games, but I won't be supporting the Halo franchise now that Bungie has nothing to do with it.
