jclarkeiv: Not really my style.. It sounds like circus music, and the kicks seem to be clipping, but the main wobble, and bass is good.. Just seems out of place some how... Does remind me of Rusko, which is good... The whooo bassline is very tasty....

JockMCPlop: Good atmosphere, but the track gets repetitive pretty fast..

djdizzy: The cymbal crash variations are good, but I feel it lacks some movement overall.. The backing whistle seems good... More to be done here, but overall good...

Updated WIP:

I added new kicks and snares.. Idk how they sit vs. the old ones.. I was trying to go for a more softer kick feel...

@jclarkeiv Awesome track. Try to make the snare punch a bit harder maybe

@JockMCPlop dat atmosphere, I love it! Maybe try to make some more variation to the drums. I like the track overall.

@djdizzy I like it. Maybe try to clean it upa bit? It sounds like some of the percussion is drowning when the mid range bass comes in.

Here's a track I'm just messing around with. I took inspiration from some acid house tunes when I made it. I have not been working long at all on it, just wondering what people think of the idea of the track.

Boman: Really cool beat. Sounds great so far. The vocals fit in nice. The idea is great, just some variation and expansion is all it needs.

Smor3s: The kick sounds really dope. I really like the beat and the peaceful vibe, something different. Mixdown is crisp too. No complaints here :Q:

DJdizzy: Really nice so far. Love when that really gritty bass comes in. Your drums are also done super well. No complaints.

Heres a repost of my last WIP with some more variation, looking for feedback.

@SMOR3S, this is heaps chill dude. The only thing I can point out is that I don't like the drum roll build-ups throughout the track, but that's just personal taste. This is really well made man. I haven't heard the old kick and snare, but I think these ones fit really well, though I'd see what others think as well first.

@BOMAN, this is really hard to give feedback because taste gets in the way. I mean, I really love pitched vocals, and yours sounds awesome, but I'm not sure if it matches the rest of the beat. I hope someone else can give better feedback for it.

@antman, this is heavy as hell, not my taste at all but it sounds well made. The build up is awesome with the hats and the washy vocal that come in. Not to mention the huge sub. Again, I wish I could give better feedback in terms of the mixdown, but I'm not good with that kind of stuff.

Please don't judge the mixdown at the moment, nor the kick and percussion, cause it's awful right now.
I know it's quite a simple track so let me know if it's empty or boring, or something doesn't sound right(excluding the mixdown and what I've already mentioned).
I'm not sure about the plucks that start at 0:10, let me know if you think they need changing.
Gotta also make the transition at 3:20 better.
Also, does the track need to be filled up much more, or would it work as it is if every I mentioned above is fixed?

Please read above before listening^^^^^^.

ljk32 - It's hard not to judge the mixdown, what exactly are you wanting us to judge? The lead in /transitions are nice, dAT SYNTH HAS TO BE CLIPPING. The one that starts around 1.30ish. Some reverb, some panning, something. It's too harsh, and it drowns out everything. The vocal is nice. The section from 2.40-3.40 is good, and that level is a good level for your main synth. As it stands right now, its too piercing.
antman- good opening atmosphere/percs. I like the minimalist feel, but I think you could vary up the sounds that come in and out a bit to give it movement. As it stands, it doesn't really get repetitive, but if it was extended past 2 mins or so it would need to transition a bit.
BOMAN- cool 80s vibe. I like the treatment of the vocals and the acid house feel works pretty well. The subtle transitions are nice, but if you're going to do anything else with it I'd say you should add in an additional layer, preferably an organic sound, like a soft horn or strings.
smor3s- This works well! The drums are solid, the kick is perfect. If I had to nitpick I'd say that the snare needs a little more presence, but even that's debatable. The melody is nice, too. As this is DSF I will say that it needs MOAR bass. I like it though, good job.

As I continue to run through all of the different Genres, I've now reached Trap. So here's my trap wip. I'm completely out of my element here so anything would be helpful. Thanks!

@Houston Weather
That horn in the intro is epic. Makes me feel like some serious shit is to come. Surprisingly, the kick in the breaks are deeper and have more low end than the kicks at the drop. It should be the other way around. Also it lacks "impact" so to speak, the moment when it should go is not defined. As you said in your post, we're on DSF so i'll ask for MOAR bass. Also, Even though some low end in the intro can hook people, I'd try to avoid anything below 100hz in the last 5/10 seconds before the drop. Ears acclimate to the lack of low end, then, BOOM.
Maybe you could try to sidechain EVERYTHING to the 808 (even a bit) to give a ducking effect and more impact, like in this track : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pzZ3odjLxQ

I'm not super found of the chopping of the vocal, even if the vocal itself is interesting and nice. The panning on the "squeek" thing or whatever is a bit too much on headphones to be honest.

@smores, your song is very happy go lucky. nailed that vibe for sure. i would say the drums you chose work, but i would bring up the rest of the mix to make it all sit a little nicer. i would also filter the drums in the intro, but thats just preference.

@boman, i like the housey feel to the tune. i would say the mid bass is just a tid bit too loud. i like the downpitched vocal samples though, thats definitely a nice touch. if anything just build it up a little better/work on the mix and youve got a nice little tune.

@antman, FUCK YES. sorry if im a bit overenthusiastic but i love that deep dub. your tune is very nice for sure. the intro is nice and simple. 0 risers haha. but it all works without a doubt man. really like your snare =) im having trouble finding something bad to say about it other than the little sub notes that come in everyonce in a while, i would like something a bit more steady but great work man.

@ houston weather, i like that intro, dunno if you know your scales but its some nice harmonic minor work=) i would try to get a little bit more high end and less click out of the hats if i were you. the sounds that come in during the bassline are a bit much for my ears so i would work on dat a bit. other than that i enjoyed the listen for sure.

@ljk, i felt as though your transitions were a bit rough. the plucks sound great dont be so insecure =P. no offense but why post a song if you know your mixdown needs drastic work though? the kick and snare are barely audible and it leaves a lot to be desired. the vocals sound great and add a ton to the song.tbh i didnt like the melody at about 1:05. too much of a "right turn" and seems to throw off the groove a bit. its good dont get me wrong just sounds like a different song almost when it first comes in.

okie dokie fellas, this is my newest work in progress. its called tribal stride and i think its quite a fitting name :6: hahaha, let me know what you think.

BOMAN: Pretty decent start thus far.. The kicks seem to be buried a tiny bit, and you should maybe include a drop relatively soon, because it starts getting repetitive after 0:33.. Right when the person says "It won't be long" towards 0:33, have the bass, and synth, but with no kicks and claps... Break it down for 4-8 bars, back into a really sick bassline.. Make the kicks and claps a bit louder, side chain the kicks if you haven't, and add some reverb to the claps if you haven't yet either...

antman: Remind me never to listen to one of your tracks in the dark again lol.. Those weird sounds freaked me out.. LOL... I jumped when I heard the screams, and growls... It sounds fucking sick as no other, but ya lights on next time! Very chill jungle sounding overall.. I haven't heard anything like this before, and that's a good thing.. for sure a track I would play in my set sometime!

ljk32: The claps seem to be buried in the beginning a bit, as well as the kicks (are the kicks side chained?).. Idk how the double verse sounds in the intro, but the ambient break before the build up is so wicked... The low end ambiance does seem to bury the whole track, it's a bit loud compared to everything else, either that or to much reverb.. Sorry for being to picky.. The overall track production is good, but those little things could be fixed imo.. Also before the break when she says "Right back to you" imo it would sound prime if you delayed the "You" and have it trail for longer, cause it seems to cut off pretty soon...

Houston Weather: That horn is quite good indeed.. Reminds me of some old medieval movie, or video game.. I am not a big fan of trap, but this is pretty dope, you just need some bangin vox, and this would kill in da club! I would so play this @ one of my sets.. The panned whooos are epic also! <3 it bro!

@Eye-siC: The flute sounds remind me of "Make it bum dem", mixed with some "Bob Marley", and the bongos are fucking TIGHT! I love bongos! I made a meme a while back called "It needs more bongos" ^_^ Question: Is that low end sub, or a reese? overall brilliant production, very prime work!

New WIP: (Re-release Update, of my "Dubstep with Derpy" track.. I re-worked the mix down, added a second verse @ the second break down, and changed some melody..) I think it sounds a lot better this time around..

*Side Note*The sub bass is still 1 note of "C1" broken up across the bassline, but idk how scaled sub would sit in the mix.. suggestions?

Thanks a lot guys, and yeah, I should've went ahead and asked for mixdown advice anyway. Mixing this high synth and the vocal together is really difficult, I mean, I have made some notches where there are conflicting frequencies, but it's not enough, I'm gonna have to do more to get them both sounding nicely together.

BOMAN: Not my style.. but it's catchy. Definitely needs more variation.

ljk32: At 1:21 that really strange synth doesn't really fit the mood of the song, it's too pitchy.

SMOR3S: I like it except it just seems the breakdown doesn't fit the mood of the song really... However, I still like the way your going about the song.

My Newest WIP, I just upgraded guys! From FL to ableton! and LEGALLY! :D I'm also getting a new computer for xmas :) 6GB DDR3 RAM 1TB HD Quad Core AMD Processor 3.1ghz and it comes with beats audio, which of course beats is pretty over priced just because of the artist association, however it's much better than your stock soundcards that come in most shelf computers. I think I'll be satisfied with it, especially seeing as it's only $480 I just don't know about windows 8...
ANYWHO! Enough rambling, Here's my FIRST track in ableton, took me a bit to get used to it, but I now prefer this over FL.

Why did you choose to go Quad core?
Surely you could have picked up a better i5 for the same price?

Which breakdown? Sky or Dubstep With Derpy? Also, don't buy crap OEM pc's with beats audio, get something good, and pair it with some nice cans/dac...

Feedback:

@Filthor:

The drop @ 0:31 is way to soon, + the kicks/snares are suffocating under the mid range dude... I can barely hear the punch of the kick.. Also the mix is way to loud for a non master, unless it's mastered.... Sounds like -1db output or higher... Put some reverb on that rev cymbal also.. not to bad overall, I am just not into this style of music...

Dubstep with derpy was the track I referred to. I liked the drop itself, just not with that mood that was already set. And the computer is being bought as a gift for me, so I can't complain and pick. I will eventually get more money and upgrade the sound card and will most likely be buying some Mid level Monitors or Headphones. I do the best with what I've got, tbh the computer that I'm getting beats my current computer.. SB Audigy Sound blaster aka CRAP, 2 gigs of ram genuineintel 2393MHz Windows XP, and only about 180gb hard drive disk. It's about 5 years old, I'm surprised it can run most of the things that I can do. And trust me, I personally think that Beats Audio is over priced, but it's definitely better than other stock cards in computers. I'd say that Beats are just under Mid level, and should be priced at about 70 - 90 USD the $400 beats are worth about 140 max. They are just priced so high because of the artist affiliation. If I had the same level sound card in that computer I'm getting but it wasn't beats, that computer would be about 100 USD cheaper. I'm not complaining, it's much better than what I'm producing on now.

@ParaTroxic: https://soundcloud.com/paratroxic/mr-reggae-man-preview

Sounds good! Need to change it up a little bit though since it gets a bit repetative. It'll be interesting to hear in a full song!

@Boman: https://soundcloud.com/dsfasfgaweasfasf ... t-be-lkong
I like this so far. The synths sound good. Composition sounds pretty good so far, keep going with this!

@SMOR3S: https://soundcloud.com/smor3s/dubstep-with-derpy
I like the idea of the track. But, I don't think the bass growl fits. It sounds really badass, but I don't think it works well with how the track started off. Cool ideas in the track, though.

@Eye-siC: https://soundcloud.com/eyesic/tribal-stride-wip
Pretty sick track! The bass is really intense in a good way, really nails me in the chest. Those bongos.... fuck yeah! I LOVED those bongos :D Really liking where this one is going.

Been rearranging a lot of stuff in my house so I haven't gotten a chance to do much until recently. Worked on something a bit different. Ended up making a track with only samples which is a first for me. Had a lot of fun, though :D
I haven't really mixed it yet, just worked on the composition mostly. Threw some shit on the master bus to bring the levels up a bit.

@axxessdenied: The first track is really good up until 1:22, it just doesn't seem to fit imo.. I love the piano on the second track, and the wobbles are tasty...

But to re-question my track, you meant he backing growl bass, not the high octave main right?, and thanks for the feedback..
