My point was everyone says "200hz" buts its 250 these days! I don't even think u need loads of layers just a big eq boost on the right sample, transient shaper & saturation.

^ This. Most standard dnb samples will do. Pitch em up a tad, and really exaggerate on the tonky EQ boost. If you don't, try the tom layering thing, it helps too.

id expect this question from someone who doesn't have a bunch of releases..
koan sound most likely didnt just nab it from a random pack they processed their snares in a certain way to get that effect.

It's 250 these days? I cannot express how dumb I feel this quote is..
I usually tune my snares to around 224 hz, since I just like that area, and many of my samples are tuned around it, but who the fuck cares if it's 250, 200, 180 or something, as long as it sounds how you want.

Well as the OP was looking for a Koan sounding snare i analyzed one of theirs and recreated it, this 250 thing made all the difference to get that sound. Il post what i did at some point if i can be arsed.

I just analyzed some of their snares, three of them hits at about 224-228, one at about 237, and one at about 186-190.
Like I said, 250, 200, 180, whatever.

i dont get why is there a debate about where about to EQ boost the snare?
its all dependent on the initial sound and also the key of the snare hit. who cares if its 210.7hz..
also i wont believe someone fully replicated a KOAN sound snare unless i heard it, i got close to it last year when clipping the heck out of the snare channel (this or distortion will suffice) but i know it wasnt 100% spot on.

I honestly don't get what's so damn special about their snares. They're good, but they're not that extraordinary or innovative. Just quite high pitched and exaggerated boost.

Jeez one of these forums. Look kids, stop getting annoyed. I am merely helping out the OP getting one of their higher pitched snares. Whoever said 'don't argue over the eq boost its about the key' yes i agree i meant if you look at an analyser the use a key which hits higher on the the frequency range i.e. around 250 and then boost it there to further bring out the note. If you don't like these snares well thats your opinion but I'm trying to help out the guy who does like them and i also like them hence me looking into it!

I think he's trolling. He appears to be an experienced producer who should know its not a secret sample pack he's looking for.
