My only problem with this argument is that what the WBC is saying is extremely offensive and hurtful to a huge amount of people. Now I'm not saying that we should all go down to Kansas and kick the shit out of them, but something should happen I believe...what they "preach" is too hurtful to be protected under the first amendment IMO

Meh, I can see your point, I'm just of the strongly held opinion that nobody should be banned from saying anything, or not say it under the threat of violent. I'd hope one day for a world where we can hear what somebody says and just disagree with it, discuss shit, and decide whether or not to go ahead with it. In some cases it's easy, and society, not laws, should be able to decide that.

Somebody once said on here that we have the right to be protected from the opinions of assholes, and I said that it was probably once a pretty unpopular opinion for other races to have the same rights as white folk in the USA, should we have banned the people that were calling for it?

We'll never expose idiocy, or help change people's opinions or have true, levelled discussions if we can't talk about it. Not like these people seem to be getting anybody on board with it.

'Too hurtful' is way too relative of a term. I don't feel hurt or offended by what they're saying because I can't take them seriously. Ignore them and they stop being offensive. Or like I said, get some gay dudes to start dancing with them like Michael Moore and that sodomobile shit.
