Dune - Dubstep
Dune - Dubstep
Maybe there are a few out there who played that game "Dune" back in '92. Does anybody remember the sound-track that game had?, which was quite amazing for just using the Adlib-FM-chip. I found it on the web: http://www.grandgent.com/tom/dune/dunemp3s.htm
The main theme sounds somehow dubsteppish to me: "Deep Desert". Maybe somebody likes to make a remix. There are also the midi-files floating around somewhere in the web.

Heavy!
There should be more people who post up useful stuff like this! I seem to remember Dune 2 having a really good soundtrack too. All about old game samples, theres a final fantasy 6 sample in pretty much every one of my tunes
I think game music had a HUGE influence on grime and dubstep, especially some of the gameboy stuff, I swear i have heard whole riffs in grime tunes sampled straight from gameboy games

Yes that's true. I got a tune with that classical SuperMario-theme from the NES on some grime flip side. I mean even those square-wave bass-lines everybody is using are sounding a lot like oldschool FM-tunes. I always liked those game-soundtracks a lot. Shinobi on the Sega Game Gear got some nice sound, too.unlikely wrote: I think game music had a HUGE influence on grime and dubstep, especially some of the gameboy stuff, I swear i have heard whole riffs in grime tunes sampled straight from gameboy games

It's definitely a flawed classic- it's a tough ask to capture all the content & intrigue of the book- but on paper:Parson wrote:i like the dune movie a lot
- Directed by David Lynch
Set design by HR Giger of Alien/Necromonicon infamy (uncredited since he was never paid for his work)
Prophecy Theme by Brian Eno- one of my first & formative experiences of being moved by electronic music! Just a shame he didn't do the whole score like Vangelis did with Blade Runner..... (no-one mention Toto's soundtrack)

I think that would have been a addition from Mr Lynch?Fractal wrote:which one? i didnt realy like the old one cause it didnt realy follow the book at all... those weapons using sonic waves? where did thoose come from??
The Sci-Fi Channel did a decent Miniseries of Dune & Children of Dune that were closer to the books, but again it's near-impossible to translate everything from them..... would like to see them attempt Heretics & Chapter House, though.
