Probably going to buy a portable recorder for foley or an external hardware synth like the MiniNova.

Would you recommend that Tascam?

I'll definitely let you know in about a week or so. I've read through half the manual so far. My dad got it from GC for $135.They matched a B&H Video supply internet price.

EDIT: I used it to record myself hitting my stainless steel sink and got a cool sounding percussive hit with reverb. And the sampling begins.....

only piece of pc gear i got was a 7-port usb hub with on/off switches for each usb port and it's own power supply. xD

I got a USB wireless mouse. The greatest creation tool of the decade. I should have asked for more RAM though :/ Forgot about that.

RAM is coming back down in price significantly since the tsunami that drove the prices up. Check against your motherboard what fits and go get some prices from somewhere like ebuyer.com
