Going to Europe - Good festivals/nights/scenes?

Post by exodusd » Mon Oct 15, 2012 9:15 am

Im an Australian and I'm heading to Europe for a year or so and would really like to know some sweet festivals to go to as well as good nights. I'm into the deeper side of dubstep and love drum and bass too. I definitely plan on going to Outlook but apart from that I'm clueless as to what festivals to go too.
I'de also like to know what cities have the best dubstep/dnb scenes in Europe. Please help a brother out!

Thanks :)

Leeds, bare stuff on... e.g. Exodus, Subdub, Jungle Jam, to name a few (that`s just the more regular ones, even the smaller nights get ridiculous)

Yeah actually I`ve heard Falaraki on Crete is the alternative to Ibiza, there`s lots of other things going on around the country too. There was definitely a good night on in Athens not so long ago advertised on here, Goth-Trad was on the bill I think

Im going to Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Czech republic - but would check out others if there is something worth going to.

Also is Ibiza worth it? Im not really into electro and that, is that all they play there?

Thanks for your help guys

Go to Athens, you won`t regret it. Maybe. I love Greece, loads of shit to see (fucking home of all of Western civilisation). You can get a ferry from Italy with the same ticket for Interail.

Ibiza`s got a good reputation for a reason. There`s all sorts going on there, don`t know about dubstep but there`s trance, house, techno etc. I think the BBC oldskool dance DJs play live from there at least once a year... it`s a big thing for dance in general. The clubs are meant to be fucking crazy as well

Can't go wrong with Berlin. A lot of dark DnB/Dubstep events, couple nice clubs with huge systems.
And you have those kind of events every day, not just on weekends.

If in Belgium, best festival still is Dour. All music is represented there, lots of dubstep and DnB. Smaller festivals in Belgium can be good too (Forest Festival, Mekitburn, Feest in het Park, Reggae Geel,...too many too name). You sure have to visit the city of Ghent and party there if u can. (for example...10 days off, location Vooruit!) There are also every wednesdays (in school periods) dubstep nights in Decadance. Lot's of regular dubstepnights too in Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Brussels,...
If in Amsterdam you got to try a night in de Melkweg.(they got a dubstep night there every thursday)

In the UK, there is something dubstep-related everyday :)
And of course, like u said, can't miss Outlook festival!

Cheers for your help - I'll be sure to check them out :)

I planned to be in belgium when Dour is on - around the end of july if I'm not mistaken.

Im at Innovation in the sun in spain until the 2nd of july. Then have a free period from then until whenever Dour is, to check out Spain/Ibiza and Belgium and anywhere in between - which is obviously France - but I have no great urge to go there.

When you're in the Czech Republic, make sure you go to Crossclub, one of the best clubs I've ever been to for music, atmosphere and just being visually cool.Think you'll find lots of good places in most larger cities around Europe if you dig deep enough, hope you enjoy it
