NOT a great place to stay in my opinion.

No offence friend.
None taken, IMO the skankyness of Kings X is confined to the Euston Road/York Way/Pentonvile Road/Grays Inn intersection, down where I'm talking about, Bloomsbury/Russell Square, Marchmont Street, Southhampton Row/Kingsway, things are pretty chilled.

+ walking distance to Soho, covent garden etc

Fuck it though, rent yourself a one bed in Harlesden, 80 max for the week

Like Illsta says I reckon you'll want to stay central, unless you're going London just for DMZ.
Your right on the money regarding the Aussies. When I stayed there with some mates four years ago we were greeted by this super energetic guy from down under who tried to persuade us to come down to the bar where they had some fun and games that night. Pretty anoying when you just got up at shit past crap in the morning to take the plane. But the stay there was fine and at a reasonable price too. I also find Bethnal Green to be a nice part of the town. Stayed there last year but at some friends so it was well cheap :D

There are nuff crackheads round Euston though.

I used to have a balcony near tavistock square an we'd see them shuffling down the street following one another looking for some one to come through with something. We always heard whistles as they tried to get each others attention to let one other know a dealer was round the corner with a fix or one of them knew where to get one. If we seen one wondering alone we'd always let them get half way down the street and then whistle from the balcony loud as, then when they'd walked half way back down the way they came dead excited we'd whistle again so they'd turn back around again an not know what was going on.

Nothing like a bewildered rockfiend.

And there was 'Caneman', who always had a few followers, he started out trying to sell me Ralph Lauren jumpers out a bag but moved on to used porn mags.

good times

If you're proper tight for money theres always student lodges in Camden for £15 a night where you can share it with a couple of cracked up weirdos who will probably rob you while you sleep!

But seriously..As people have said anywhere east end is cushty or even "Saff East" is alright prices wise and if you're near Greenwich theres nice coffee places and a nice curry shop couple of chinese places too!

Theres some cheap BnBs all over London you just gotta look innit. Hope you have fun on your travels anywho!
