I can totally understand what people are getting at.
90% of the people that are associated or produce bro step are dicks.
There's so many "not enough drop on this song" or "needs more compression" when they don't know what compression is even doing, and then there's the super stnuc "how do I make a skrillex growl sound?" "To get a dubstep wobble, use modern talking and put a sine lfo on the cutoff".
Everyone is literally like "sick tune bro, check out mine". And there is a hell of a lot of sound swapping using massive patches. I totally understand the dislike and lack of interest for it in that sense, but at the same time, I thought people would appreciate the technical skills and originality of some of the more mainstream artists, like 501, feed me, koan sound. I imagine there's a lot of secret bro step fans on here too haha. I've been to see skream a couple of times and benga, and I really enjoyed it in a club environment, I just couldn't listen to it day to day. Hopefully now I'm on here ill start getting into it more and enjoying it. But yeah, thanks for actually answering nicely, I was expecting some sly sarcastic comments.
Lol i dont think anyone who is even remotely good at producing "brostep" thinks like this.

oh and somethin thats been bothering me, why the FUCK is there so much appreciation for 16bit. I don't get it, last thread there was about what "bro" you kinda like, everyone was super down with 16bit.

I've tried liking them like 3 times and it sounds just like epic/jantsen/habstrakt stuff just maybe a lil goofier? I dunno, just sounds like a bunch of wanka style yois, ones you might make using redux, real glitchy and small.

I assume you mean eptic? If so, then you're dead wrong and obviously don't realise they were around before eptic so if anything they were bitten by eptic. I think jansten is the guy who bites eptic sooooooo hard so yeah, not very similar sounds between these guys and 16-bit.
16-bit were quality producers and amongst the most technically impressive amongst "bro" makers and i hate to say this, and never have before, but i'd like to see you do better tbh.
Wanka Yois? Which tracks have you heard?

well what used to be called bro was basically stupid tearout, until they brought the cheese. i remember when 'brostep' made you think of datsik instead of lasers and female vox

To me, it has always been overly obnoxious aggressiveness chain saw bass (datsik) and unpleasant screech (everyone now)

I've youtubed through a bunch of their stuff, went through all their tracks on beatport.

Jump is cool, Funhouse I like. But then it's like frzr, dinosaurs, their surge remix, and bunch of other stuff which just sounds like the super high pitched screechy stuff that eptic/habstarkt/jantsen make a lot. I mean I could see their appeal elsewhere, but amongst a forum where anything that isn't deep as fuck is automatically a pile of shit, it doesn't make sense.

Then stuff like boston cream/skullcrack sounds like new kromestar/jakes meets eptic. especially skullcrack.

I mean yeah it's one song I just found it funny it's pretty much the same bass sound

brostep I like
no unisono saw waves, no female vox, beats, midrange, bass and dark ambience, groovy.

brostep I hate
female vox, unisono saw waves, chords, house-y parts, shit production and so on.
