Tbh at most of these hipster house nights NO ONE is dancing.Which makes no sense, considering house is pure dance music. It's like waiting at a bus stop down 51.27....
My name is Dom and I like making ambientish music and drinking tea. Nice to meet you.

I'd like to be able to dance like this instead of head nodding and moving from side to side tbh, looks more fun

I have to say I don't go out my way to listen to it, but the typical house track is the most dull, ungroovy thing I can think of.

Sounds like the stuff they listen to in the clubs in The Sims, or a sort of soundtrack to convince people they're having a good time, when in fact everyone is tense/anxious as fuck, afraid that everyone is looking at their stupid dancing and outdated button-ups.

I went in the aforementioned Bank of Stokes Croft (51.27?) once and everyone was honestly dancing like Sims to Sims music, was retarded.

I don't go out my way to hate on house, they just make it so easy.

51.27 is at the Thekla but I think the Bank might be an even worse offender ...

Less pretension please, it's only music

I dunno man, i think you're looking at in the wrong way.

From what you post on here alot of the time I'd say you like quite obscure stuff, which is great, but stuff doesn't always have to be so different and forward thinking to be good.

Sometimes a tried and tested formula can do the trick.

House is just perfect at what it's made for. I think if you wanna go out, have fun & dance, then it is the one.

And i think alot of people would agree with that.

Love that not liking house is the ONE thing you're not allowed to do if you claim to like electronic music.

Might be, but as soon as anyone says they don't like it, it's like, universal criticism towards them. It's the one thing on here people can't accept others not liking.

Yeah i guess, it's a pretty big part of electronic music though.

To like electronic music, but to not like house/techno seems a bit weird to me.

Yeah, people go out & dance to it, I'm not contesting that, it just provokes absolutely nothing in me.

It's background pulling-music to my ears, people dance & enjoy it to an extent, without breaking a sweat, messing up their hair or spilling their drinks.

(Now might be a good time to note I don't actually care about house music, it doesn't even bother me, I just like winding you up by pointing out how whack it is. I'm just jaded at the direction dubstep went and blame it on house)

Probably because the genre is fucking MASSIVE and spans the globe with sub genres.
So throwing the word Hate around when talking about it is pretty silly imo especially for people that are so into music they are chatting about it on a forum dedicated to a teeny tiny fresh faced scene (by comparison).

Most people seem to equate House to the ever increasingly popular "Deep house" side of stuff, like Hot creations, Jamie Jones, Nic Franchuli, Juilo Bashmore (or however its spelt) and so on because thats being pushed all the time.
Where as you can get stuff by Andre/Moodyman/Theo Parish that sounds nothing like Sasha/Digweed/Guy J that sounds worlds apart from the above.
Ive had a few people at work ask me about my music tastes and when I ask them what are they into they say "house" when I press and ask "like who?" hoping to hear some actual names but they struggle and squirm "oh you know like that au swerve song and that" :|

Went on abit of a random tangent there..

Now dubstep, that's pretty much 95% awful.
