@BudSpencertron That is insane! Maybe some more vocal oneshots/samples could keep it on point. Otherwise, sick track!

@johnkimble You don't even need much synth work! Just add some rapping vocals and you have yourself a sick tune. Loving the hats.

@D-ROD The sick and twisted melody is crazy, all I can say is maybe try and use a different snare sample, and put some more fx in that rising build.

Here's something I put together last weekend, need some advice. I gotta clean up the drop a little, but let me know what you think.

@D-ROD Buildup is nice, good use of the sub. I would use more than one hihat for the drop, beef up the drums a bit with EQ and use more cymbals. Soory I couldn't be of more help, not good with DnB.

@johnkimble Sounds pretty trappy. I think I would prefer a more obvious/predictable beat but that's probably my opinion. I would have a longer sub on the kick with a bit more pitchbend down. Maybe a bit of compression on the hats to add more of a hitting quality? I'm nitpicking here, it sounds really good.

@Crow Steppa Nice bass. Not feeling the mids too much though, maybe boost them? Your kick has a kinda clicky quality to it that I'm not too fond of. Like the snare. Plus, everyone loves Nic Cage. Bit repetitive. That's all I can really say.

Going for some house here. There's something missing in the drop and I can't put my finger on it. Any help?

@living tragedy really solid tune so far , maybe make a tad more room for the snare and a highendfreq bassdrum on top would be nice. maybe even bit more pumping between abssline and bassdrum?

@ballin hm only big thing i would change is bring the midrange bit down in the part where the melody plays so its more audible and try to layer a nice white noise or vinyl snare clap whatever over the deep one so it adds another layer

@D-ROD try to bring abit more of a room feeling to the drums by adding some slight reverb. maybe bring the basssound down until it feels like drums and bass are a team and then raise both back up.
i like the drumwork though. maybe keep the focus on that and build the bassline more around it?

@johnkimble feel it! maybe some really deep sub one shots maybe even with pitch up down stufflike snare biouww bow bu ahah cant explain better but i think would sound nice. or jsut add some picth to the existing subbassdrums. maybe try to find a acapella with some breathing and sth ssts etc sounds and bring them inbetween boi st bo snare bu maybe shuffle abit?


so yeah thats a tune i am actually working on atm. not gonna lie i worked with some reece pack i found but yeah tried to give it a different touch more of a pisstake tune but yeah maybe someone has a gay idea or sth to add

Well, youve succesfully mimicked the robotic synth sounds that a lot of big producers use these days, but the song itself is rather bland and boring to my tastes.

This is pretty good.. a lot better than most stuff here. I think it would sound even better if you went back and recorded yourself playing real instruments instead of using samples and synths. Real instrument recordings always sound a ton better than using a soft synth to mimick one...

@cmgoodman1226, this is absolutely amazing, the percussion sits nicely, the vocal one shots work well, the sub bass is just ridiculously awesome, and all the background atmosphere gives you shivers. There is literally only one thing I don't like in this track - the sound at about 2:03, where the transition is, it just doesn't feel right. Can I ask, in the main part, the sub on the second bar sounds like it's mixed with a person groaning, or humming at a low pitch, is that what you did? It sounds so damn awesome. Also, don't take this the wrong way, but I just don't understand why you avoided giving me feedback, you missed me, went to the two guys above me, and then to a guy on the page before. But then again, you could've missed it or something. Anyway, big ups on this track, really loving it.

Wasn't intentional my friend. I was in a bit of a rush and just missed it. as to your question, The "groaning" is just the same "remember" sample just pitched down and clipped so you only hearing the "mem" part and singing the same note that the sub is playing. I appreciate the feedback, and I'll return the favor here:

@ ljk32 : The vocals fit nicely but the piano just sounds to bright and cheesey here. I'd go with something darker Personally. That kick has way too much sustain and not enough punch. I might change up some of the hat sounds a little bit; or at least change the rythim a little bit as the it does seem to just drone on a bit. The end of the drop could use some defenite work. It sounds like you just choose a random spot to put that last snare in. It needs to be a bit more clear that that snare is where this buildup is leading to. There's defenitly some great ideas here; just keep at it.

I like the reece sounds that fill the whole tune and give it such a monstrous feel, with a few touches here n there it could be worked up to a proper tune (not pushing you to do the dungeon thing or anything, but this song 30x times darker and cold would be definately something I'd like to hear)

The bootleg would work in a big club setting. I can just imagine it. MAin synth is devastating but not too keen on the vocals, maybe you could give the vocals a good little kick of fuck-off and replace them with something else. Though, the synth/whatever you used in the beginning underneath the vocals would maybe work as a build-up itself.

Liking the general melody at the beginning. Maybe a reshape of the hi-hats and the snare would make it properly nice sounding to my ears, you know that kind of a lazy feel that's example in Kromestar's Mental Universe would fit in. You haven't raped the synths in the drop by overusing them so that's good. Keep on going man

Now for more of my productions as I've had an adhd sequence in producing so pushed out an idea that I've had lingering in my mind for some time
Prepare for some lazy ass sampling and heavy bass etc
Tried to replicate the original feeling of the tune in my own ways

I'd actually like to see this at 174 bpm. I think that'll give it more of a lively feel, as it feels like it's dragging right now. But yeah, it definitely has that monstrous feel johnkimble mentioned.

Your drums sound a bit too acoustic for my taste. Not sure if that was what you were going for or not...I'd add more open hats to fill up the empty space. Not my vibe of tune but I definitely see it going somewhere sick with a bit of work.

Can't say I know the original tune, but I really like the drum work in this. Although I would vary the velocities of your hats a bit more, it'd give it a more natural feel. Overall very nice, not my style but I found it enjoyable.

So here's the second version of this tune that I've posted here, basically I took SMOR3S advice and added a 1 bar breather before the first drop, and I changed the kick sample I used. I've been trying to get this mixdown right, but it may just be me being super picky over it. Lemme know what you think.

@Kibb One of the most impressive tracks I've heard in a while. The intro is sick, and same for the drop. I wouldn't change much at all there. I was interested throughout the whole piece. The synth at 2:43 is killer, I could listen to that all day. My only piece of advice would be t mess with the ending sequence starting at 4:15, maybe you could finish with just a dramatic breakdown of piano or strings or something? Great track.

@johnkimble I like it more than the first! The new voice samples sound good. Maybe you could try chopping those samples and having like another catchy percussive melody fit in there? Just an idea. Keep it up!

All you are doing is making someone falsely confident in something that doesnt warrant it, so what motivates them to work hard and make something actually decent when they already have this misguided notion that their stuff "just needs a few small touches"? While this isn't the genre I typically listen to I thought this was an great tune, very creative and the mastering sounded pretty great. Very jealous. Those drums were nuts.

This feedback thread is all about opinion. Maybe what you think is is sloppy, another person might think is an impressive track. Like when Bob Dylan introduced the electric guitar to his songs at Newport in the 60's. some people thought it was disgusting and sloppy, but some people thought it gave him an impressive characteristic to his music.


EDIT: Yet, I'm completely new to this forum so you might not wanna listen to me. And I can agree somewhat that some people post "feel good" positive responses, but I don't know if it's to the extent that you're talking about.

i would never post "negative" feedback even if i hate a tune. i dunno i think you can deliver bad feedback in a nice way and the person still gets it. i mean i made lots of shitty tunes and i posted here and you can read between the lines what the person thinks. even the worst tune took effort and time, so i think people should honor that part, even if they dont like the music at all.

How in the hell is he supposed to improve his track with that advice? You just wanted to be the dick of the forum and put down music you don't like. Rather than saying something constructive, you just want to put somebody down. I don't think anybody gives a shit about your personal feelings on the genre of music. I don't particularly like the style in question either, but when I leave feedback I leave my personal feelings about the style aside to give unbiased feedback. I could give a fuck if somebody posts a song that personally I loathe; if it's well mixed and well produced, I'm going to say so. If it sounds like shit, I'm going to say it sounds like shit because of xyz. I'm not going to sit here and try to make myself feel special by saying "I fucking hate brostep and since you posted a brostep song, you suck; this forums gone to shit..." If it's gone to such shit, why don't you post some "good" music seeing as you have such great standards...
