I'm curious...

Post by deadly_habit » Fri Jan 04, 2013 9:05 am

Have there been any how do I sound like Psy - Gangnam Style threads on here?
Been out of the loop and honestly it seems like it may have happened following the trend of this board now...

Not that I've seen.

Wonder if there is an electro house production board somewhere that has one though?

:Z:

About 70-80% of the threads that are in here could be answered by people using the search, GearSlutz has at least addressed that issue with their similar search functionality when you try and post a new thread.

And the tail chasing begins. Maybe we could trash all sound design/soundalike threads and people might get the idea to be creative as opposed to copying.

...ain't that the same for all internet forums? I honestly don't know how half the people I see posting on internet forums are able to determine their arse from their elbow.

I guess, maybe it's just more apparent here as I've been here a while can remember specific threads about topics that have been discussed before.

Glitchhopforum could use a bit more of movement. Gearslutz would complete DSF's job and crush their spirits for good.

Maybe the problem is that this production isn't busy enough. We've got a dedicated core of 20-30 regulars and then the one-post-wonder brigade asking basic questions which could be solved by using the search), and the threads are then jumped upon by the regulars who take the piss.

If we had more traffic (constant traffic inc. new members who actually get involved and don't just ask shite questions then fuck off/never post again) then we'd have a good case for sub-forums, namely sound design and beginners shit.

Columns would be a good idea as well, just 500 words from some of the more established members on a topic that interests them...similar to thinking out loud but without the regurgitation vibe that's in there at times

No production forum exists that does not have the, "How do I make this sound" threads. Imitation is in our nature. It will never go away. I personally don't mind them even if I don't read them. It's just a matter of getting the people wanting that information directed to the corresponding thread before posting.

Unfortunately I think if new people didn't start those types of threads they would probably come back. Those threads get excessive amounts of backlas. When you have 10-15 people jump on you as soon as you post the thread they are less likely to ever try to post again.

How to do that though? The "Make A Sound" threads are rarely off the front page, and the Search function is always there to see if the question has been asked before...but still regurgitation threads crop up because new users are lazy and want some kind of spoon feeding.

Also...new account for any reason in particular?
