This is mostly false.

yeah lol. i just bought a roland mc-303 groovebox and i own the korg monotron delay and korg monotron oscillator as well as a guitar (when paired with a soundcard i guess its considered hardware?) and i plan to buy a maschine at some point.. im into hardware per se, i just dont know enough about it to be a valuable source of info to you. also yeah, if youre blind how do you read posts? (again, just asking out of curiosity...)

I swear he has to explain every time he makes a topic lol :)

Do you have anyone to help you figure out the hardware or do you really do it all on your own? The prophet is great but like Depone said how well are you able to navigate through is going to make or break it.. most parameters will display on the screen (although I'm sure you can hear what you are doing to the sound).. here is the manual btw:

PS anyone has the tempest? I realllly want to buy one

I use absynth and kontakt way more than I use Massive. Plus I love to plug in all my hardware and dub some stems in my free time.

Absynth is a monster, but I do use massive for simple stuff like subbasses etc.

Not that I really post much or that anyone knows or cares who I am...but I've recently become a hardware fiend...do most of my synth design OTB now. The rest is sampling. ;p

You might also consider the Mopho x4 by DSI...I've not really checked it out, but I don't think it has a ton of menu diving.

gaia probably has the nicest, most hands on interface (aside from the minibrute) in that price range

the only potential problem with it is that each sound is 3 synths layered on top of each other and since you have to select and layer with buttons, that might get confusing

minibrute is worth looking into, or maybe something vintage? moog mg-1 is about $500, it has a pretty simple interface and it sounds great

for heaps basic ones, hit up the korg monotrons. i have the delay and the oscillator. you can run them through each other as well and run stuff through them really easily. they have an aux and a headphone port and a basic ribbon keyboard with some dials.. fucking sick things. :D

Can attest that the mini brute is completely menuless, and easy to program. Of all the synths mentioned, I honestly think it would be the easiest to work with. IMO ease of use usually means the thing gets used, regardless if you have the faculty of sight or not. The minibrute does have a genericness to its sound, but it is analog, and you can just nudge those knobs into and around sonic thresholds that are rich and diverse. It just takes time and ears, and fingers I guess. Big ups Sound Warrior, as always.
