Sativas will keep you up. A good indica will put you down. I'm a light sleeper and I sometimes have insomnia as well. I couple of puffs of a strong indica an hour and a half before bedtime really helps.

Lol @ all the drug suggestions

Also, in psychology, the teacher stressed to not exercise in cases of insomnia. Yeah I suppose if you work out to the point of physical collapse that may help, but that isn't practical for ever day use.

I suffer from the same problem myself, I really believe it has to do with the computer, good suggestion was get off the computer an hour before bed, I'll try that tonight. Also, hot showers always help ;)

I've heard somewhere that computer screens emit light of a particular frequency that limites the level of melatoing being produced....

ah here it is;

"Production of melatonin by the pineal gland is inhibited by light to the retina and permitted by darkness. Its onset each evening is called the dim-light melatonin onset (DLMO).
It is principally blue light, around 460 to 480 nm, that suppresses melatonin,[32] proportional to the light intensity and length of exposure. Until recent history, humans in temperate climates were exposed to few hours of (blue) daylight in the winter; their fires gave predominantly yellow light. The incandescent light bulb widely used in the twentieth century produced relatively little blue light.[33] Wearing glasses that block blue light in the hours before bedtime may decrease melatonin loss. Kayumov et al. showed that light containing only wavelengths greater than 530 nm does not suppress melatonin in bright-light conditions.[34] Use of blue-blocking goggles the last hours before bedtime has also been advised for people who need to adjust to an earlier bedtime, as melatonin promotes sleepiness.[35]"

So yeah get off the PC, or you could even try changing the monitor colour temperature down, it may be enough.

I've got F.lux so that shouldn't be a huge problem, but yeah I usually read for half an hour before bed anyways.

Yeah that was me over the holiday break, maybe my body just can't get used to going to bed early again.
