What is the name for this sound?

Post by DanGoode » Tue Jan 15, 2013 2:25 pm

Hi guys :t:

Firstly I'd like to say hey, I'm new on this forum but I've been looking through it for a while and it seems awesome.

Now the main question: I'm somewhat new to dubstep, and I'm having trouble with the drops in my pieces. The problem is not the bass, or the LFO. The problem is what goes in between the bass line. I'm not quite sure what the word for this is and hence I'm having trouble making it  Sometimes it's just chords, or midrange bass but usually it seems to be something more complex.

Here's an example of what I mean:

- 1:17 in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=_nemeq8kuD8

I know this isn't the best dubstep artist around, but it would be nice to replicate that "inbetween bass" sound as a starting point for my own "inbetween bass" sounds :)

Thanks!
