Should I? Mountain Lion

Post by One Zero Three » Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:32 pm

Well ive been holding off for awhile on my upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion and im still debating if i should do it. I have a mid 2009 mac book pro 2.53 GHz processing and 8 GB of ram (the max on this model).Whats holding me back is the probability that my plug-ins / VSTs etc. may not work on the upgrade. Also i read that Logic Pro 9 (i have 9.1.7 installed) doesn't even work well. And that is a 100% necessity for me. Some of the stuff i have that idk will work:

Massive 1.1.5 (yes.... its a torrented version, im working my way through buying them all)
Kontakt 5
Sugarbytes WOW (most recent version, bought it)
NI Razor (most recent version, bought it)
Sylenth 1 (most recent version, bought it)
Logic Pro 9 (9.1.7) (bought)

Any help/knowledge would be appreciated, i dont wanna get myself stuck! Thanks everyone!

:? :t:

EDIT: If your gonna tell me that Macs suck just dont bother. And if you tell me that im a bad person because i have pirated massive as a trial, im aware, im working on it.
I love making music.

Logic works a hell of a lot better on 10.6.8 than 10.8.x. And once you go to 10.8, there's no going back.

Everything's been fine for me so far following getting a new MBP with OS 10.8.2. Logic 9.1.8 is running better than ever on this system tbh!

Yeah I had it on computers at work, there were issues for sure, especially with Logic! But all seemingly sweet for now :) Only thing is I've struggled with installing my older hardware on it. The Apogee Duet 2 driver was required to get my Duet 1 to work (!), and now I can't use any hardware synths cos it looks like M-Audio aren't going to do a Midisport driver for Mountain Lion. Need to buy a new MIDI interface :|

Edit: I've also had no issues with any NI stuff, rock solid (Razor especially runs better than it did on earlier OS).

Downgrade to 10.6 snow leopard. SL is the most stable one so far, still needs a little cleaning from time to time, but other then that it's awesome.

Watch out with Avid/m-audio stuff.

Pro Tools doesn't care about you and your computer.

If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Although saying that I have had all my audio units working fine throughout the upgrade from SL to Lion and then to ML.
The latest logic update addressed some gui lag issues. Im going on a hunch but I bet when apple drop the new logic on us, I bet its ML only compatible.
