ImageEvery Thursday Ritual brings you the best from Dubstep to Drumstep, Trap to Glitch, and any other bass heavy EDM we like.

DJG:
https://soundcloud.com/djg

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dean J. Grenier, (A.K.A DJG), landed in the Bay Area underground dance music scene 2007 with his first 12” ”Shadow Skanking” b/w “Joyful Sound” on Narco.Hz, two slices of lithe, slick dubstep. Immediate airplay for “Joyful Sound” on Rinse FM and drops in the clubs from prominent DJs like N-Type quickly propelled DJG to the forefront of American bass music producers early on in his career.

Grenier’s production style is rich and welcoming, sometimes visceral but never anything less than evocative. Now considered a veteran of the American scene, Grenier (as DJG) self-released the two-disc Voids collection in 2010, revealing not only a clever grasp of dubstep and dnb but ambient soundscapes, and since then he’s released on labels like Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood imprint, Headhunter’s Transistor, Frite Nite, Pushing Red and Wheel & Deal Records.

Now operating under the name Grenier his recent productions see him moving in a more experimental direction, dropping the tempo to as low as 125BPM while playing around with rhythmic structures that hint at soulful house, garage, and other weird shapes, all imbued with the warm melodic embrace he’s always kept hidden beneath the beats. With forthcoming releases on Tectonic, Photek Productions, Get Darker and Frite Nite (with LA’s Salva), 2012 looks to be a banner year for Grenier, as he continues work on his debut album. DJs ranging from Mary Anne Hobbs, Mala, Pearson Sound, 2562, Pinch, Addison Groove, Salva, Photek, N-Type, Distal and many more have been supporting DJG’s recent and forthcoming releases.

Grenier’s performance behind the decks reveals a wide-ranging taste and smart grip on all sorts of music, elegantly-paced sets full of his own productions and like-minded efforts from others. His DJ talents have brought him all over the world, including a recent set at the legendary club Fabric in London and a tour around Europe in 2011, and back home in North America he’s headlined British Columbia’s Bass Coast Festival.

Grimblee is too cool to have a bio. Period.

Vannin:
https://soundcloud.com/vannin_dubstep

Adam McKinney, better known by his dubstep alias ‘Vannin’, has served as a continual flow of quality since his first release in 2011. Rapidly ascending through the dubstep ranks, Vannin now has a worldwide following and releases forthcoming on dubstep's finest 'Rottun Records' and innovators 'Prime Audio'.

His debut release ‘Plastic VIP’ reached a lofty #14 in the ‘Beatport Dubstep Chart’. The follow up single needs no introduction. The absolutely massive ’Another World’ destroyed dance floors around the globe, reaching #11 in the same chart.

What can we expect from his shows? His sets are jam packed with the freshest dubplates in the scene, whilst also mixing it up and peppering the performance with delicious classics.

Quickie Mart:
https://soundcloud.com/djquickiemart

Quickie Mart was born and raised in Louisiana. After spending a couple of years living and hustling on the streets as a teen, he got his start amidst the debauchery of the late night rave and hip hop scene of New Orleans. Since relocating to Los Angeles in 2006 his production and bass remixes have been featured on a number of other independent and major label artists’ projects across a variety of different genres.

Q Mart has done official remixes for artists like Slightly Stoopid, Wax, Freddie Gibbs, NOLA bounce legend Ricky B, Galacitc, J-Boogie, and more. He also has produced tracks for featured artists such as Planet Asia, Wax, Percee P, Buff1, Medusa, and Gotham Green, ...just to name a few. On top of a heavy grind in the studio producing and remixing, Mart spends most of his time on the road or in the skies bringing his unique bass-heavy style to the sound systems of the world.

Quickie’s accolades include playing large events like SXSW, Vegoose, and Zen Festival. He has been featured twice at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, four years at Voodoo Music Festival, and five years in a row at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. He has shared stages with artists such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Jurassic 5, Datsik, RJD2, The Ting Tings, Fishbone, Lyrics Born, Joss Stone, Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, Downlink, Particle, Akon, Gift Of Gab,Stanton Warriors, Inspektah Deck, Rusko, Lilly Allen, and many more. He also had the great honor of performing on stage with the legendary Mac “Dr. John” Rebennak.

Quickie is also half of Gypsyphonic Disko with Ben Ellman of Galactic, half of Bang, You're Dead with singer/songwriter Jes Hudak, and half of production duo Computa Games. Whether touring as a solo artist, or on the road with his collaborations, Mart’s sets have captivated audiences world wide.

Mart has received praise from publications like URB, Blender, Filter, XLR8R, and XXL, plus blogs such as The Source, White Folks Get Crunk, DJBooth.net, Dubstep.net, NahRight, 2DopeBoyz, and LA Weekly hailed him as “New Orleans’ Hip Hop Champion”. On top of print and heavy web buzz, Quickie Mart has also been featured on television channels and programs like Last Call with Carson Daly, Current TV, Louisiana’s Famous Dew Drop Inn, MTV, MTV2, and MTV-U.
