He seems like a higher functioning autist in the flick, but autism all the same, and I'm not trying to say it disparagingly, it's an interesting as hell character study.
Hell it's leaving me still wondering now.

Indeed it's a great film based off a mediocre novella.
Cranston plays a small but memorable role btw.

Madagascar 3

As you'd expect. A lot of sequences that would've been an absolute headfuck in 3D.

No, and I probably won't...thought the book was quality and watching the film will only tarnish my memories of it.

I've read the book as has my wife probably 7 times.
We both thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
It is a visual feast imo.

Finally got around to watching this last night. Kept postponing it because of it's length, but god damn what a fantastic film. Goes straight up in my list of best films I've ever seen.
Bought it on DVD as well this morning.

Good film aint it! I didnt feel like it is running time was bad atall. Surprising really as now a days most 3 hours films start to drag.

Its also the first of all films that involve gathering a group of people together to fight a common cause or defend something (if memory serves)

Yeah you're right, it really wasn't that bad. I felt it was interesting for the full 3,5 hours which i quite an accomplishment indeed.

What about countless Westerns before this let alone all genres from all countries? It was influential but not the first to do that very vague statement.

Yeah big up Jesus for dying for our sins and netting us a public holiday in the process.

Also, hot cross buns.

You're probably right but it was certainly among the first films that did this.
It is, however, considered to be the first film to have combined this with several other plot devices (for instance the romance between a local girl the youngest hero, and the reluctant hero) that are now common use in action films.
