Thought I should make an announcement as I know there were a few fans on here.

As of 2013, Soul Motive (and by extension 2 Floors Down) is officially shut. We had a good run at the start and I hope we introduced some amazing artists to you all, in the highest and prettiest quality we could get. A constant and increasing lack of sales has just made the venture not financially viable. And personally, it's hard work and disheartening when you sign amazing artists (just look at our back catalog), have great music and no-ones interested, you struggle to get coverage in the right places and dj's just aren't picking up the tunes. It became obvious Soul Motive had had it's time and place and it was time for Adam and I to move on and do new stuff. Perhaps we should have ended it earlier, but then we wouldn't have had the opportunity to put out the great music we had last year. I REGRET NOTHING!

All our remaining stock is still for sale directly and Adam will probably cut mad discounts to clear the remaining stock out of his house! Check http://www.soulmotive.co.uk for more details and to stream our entire catalog.

I would like to thank all of the artists who have released with us:
Joker, TRG, Ben Blackmore, Coleco, Sharmaji, El-B, Rossi B & Luca, Hyetal, Headhunter, Geiom, Eleven Tigers, Julio Bashmore, Kahn, Superisk, Dark Sky, Macc, Peverelist, Typesun and Sines.

A massive thank you to all the djs, writers and promoters that supported us, you lot genuinely made this stuff fun.

And finally but most of all, thanks to everyone who purchased something from us or came to a night. I have had some of the best times in my life playing at and attending nights representing Soul Motive and it's all down to people actually paying for something, I hope, they could see a little more effort went into than the standard.

Some of my favourite pieces of wax are from Soul Motive, Joker/TRG one, and the El-B/Rossie & Luca one, so big up, certainly a great label while it lasted! Should be proud.

absolutely terrible news. soul motive have always been a special sort of label, so many inspiring sounds from you guys... hold onto a shirt for me

Thanks for everything Pete and Adam! Consistantly one of my favourite labels. No regrets please, so many good tunes, so much fun had mixing and listening to them!

Also - whats this about shirts?

Very sad news mate, loved Soul Motive and gutted we never did a SM label showcase .... I totally understand what you're saying in regards to all the effort for very little reward.

Always great releases, got the Joker and TRG, & headhunter releases ...

Was gutted when Coleco told me this was going to happen a month or so ago: a lot of people could learn some valuable lessons about aesthetics and how to curate a label's output from Soul Motive.

Because of this thread, I checked out Last Saloon Swagger / Into the Sunset and wow, those tracks are mindblowing.
