Elgato & Swindle have been releasing tunes for a good while now if you're saying they should be in the new producer category, but yeah agreed with Beneath.DiegoSapiens wrote:but I can't understand what happened with the new producer ElGato, Swindle, Beneath... and then comp that was last year too

my bad, I see Swindle have a lot of old tunes... but I really thought Elgato was new, I was amazed with the Hessle Audio release specially Luv Zombie, so I started looking up who the hell was this guy and I didn´t find anything, so I thought they were his first release. Any audio??

Dubstep Forum Awards
Can i just say what an absolute sham these awards are.
How can a label like Innamind start up a year ago, get as big as it has, becoming one of the biggest deep dubstep labels around yet not even make the shortlist? I voted and i know plenty of others who did so these awards now seem like a sham. I'm not talking 5-6 people, I'm talking a lot more, too many for this to be a mistake...
Also, if this forum is going to be called the DUBSTEP forum, why are there non dubstep labels in the shortlist like Swamp 81, SunkLo etc....
Burial ain't made a dubstep track in years yet somehow is 2nd in the voting behind Kahn, how did he ever make the list? Now thats not aimed purely at the awards, he shouldn't have been included no matter how many voted but as he's there what are people doing? It's like voting for Kryptic Minds in the DnB arena awards, yes they used to make DnB but not any more...
My main grip tho is Innamind, I honestly feel cheated it didn't make the shortlist, and I know PLENTY of others who voted who feel cheated....

Re: Dubstepforum Awards 2013 : VOTING OPEN
Surprised Rani didn't get a nomination in the vocalists/mc bit. Anyway, voted like this,
Best producer - Truth (Loved the stuff they've put out this year, dubs and releases, different kinda take on the darker side of things)
Best new producer - Kaiju (Close Break/Belcanto does funny things to me. And the way they use sub is unreal)
Best Dj - Yunx (Self-explanatory)
Best label - Deep Medi (Drove me into poverty this year, consistent isn't the word)
Best New Label - Uprise Audio (Just exploded with the most ridiculous tunes)
Best Track - Wayfarer - Fall Of The Zulu (I'm a sucker for percussion)
Best Remix - Mavado - Dem A Talk (Compa Remix) (Just killed it on it)
Best Album - Mala - Mala In Cuba (I was gobsmacked listening to this album, thought the two sounds merged together so well)
Best Radio Show - Yunx (Tight mixing, freshest dubs, best guests and MCs, no brainer really)
Best Vocalist/MC - LX ONE
Best Blog/Website - Fat Kid On Fire (The mix series is just scandalous)
Best 120-140 Producer - Disclosure (Loved their Greco-Roman EP, Latch and White Noise were big tunes, too)
Best 120-140 DJ - Skream (Technically, probably not the best of the bunch but for a catch all set, I think he's difficult to top)

Re: Dubstep Forum Awards

Anyway why make a new thread about something you've already said in a different topic.
1. Why would they make it a sham, and put so much effort in a rigged vote
2. "I'm not talking 5-6 people, I'm talking a lot more, too many for this to be a mistake..." How can u be this sure without fixing things? Even so this forum has lot's of members and again I highly doubt they'd keep out results/record labels
3. As you mention yourself some edgy labels (which u clearly don't agree on) make the cut, why wouldn't yours make it if it had enough votes?
4. "why are there non dubstep labels in the shortlist like Swamp 81, SunkLo" this has been discussed every year I guess, to make a quick summary; certain labels have more then one genre
5. "Burial ain't made a dubstep track in years", really? Anyway Shackleton not allowed? Kahn made grime as well oh no!!! Icicle, doesn't he make DNB? Why Skream in best DJ's he plays disco/funk/house

6. "Now thats not aimed purely at the awards, he shouldn't have been included no matter how many voted but as he's there what are people doing?" need I even explain ? I think people were voting

7. "I honestly feel cheated it didn't make the shortlist"
As I feal cheated that stand against war is losing from dread and someone else wanted VIVEK but you don't see me bitching about it
btw; http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=265635 go vote there

Re: Dubstepforum Awards 2013 : VOTING OPEN
A big thanks to the few of you who nominated Dank 'N' Dirty Dubz for Best Radio Show. We launched the show in January 2010 and only just reached our 47th episode today, so it's really an honor to just make the short list. Glad you are enjoying the vibes!
Also, I just want to thank everyone for nominating Digitally Imported (DI.FM) for Best Radio Station as well. I run the Dubstep channel (http://www.di.fm/dubstep) and recently launched the Liquid Dubstep channel (http://www.di.fm/liquiddubstep) on this station and am just glad that some of you are enjoying the selection!
Nuff respect everyone. Thanks again to everyone voting for us in these two categories. We don't expect to win, but we do hope you check out the radio show and the radio channels if you ever get a chance

Re: Dubstepforum Awards 2013 : VOTING OPEN
2012 was a year where a lot of bland similar sounding halfstep ("Dungeon") gained a huge amount of popularity. In my opinion this really hurt the scene and kept it from being pushed forward. I tried to vote for people who I felt were doing there own thing and contributing something unique.
Best producer - Kahn (Doing something totally different than most and doing it well)
Best new producer - Wen (Again one of the only ones in this category doing something totally unique)
Best DJ - Oneman (Plays so many different sounds and does some of the sickest mixes I've ever heard and would never think of)
Best label - Keysound (So many good releases last year and again not afraid to do something different)
Best New Label - SunkLo (All 3 releases have been incredibly good and have stood out from alot of bland techno/house)
Best Track - Kahn - Dread (Bassline is ridiculous. Best dubstep tune I've heard in a long time hands down. Chose it over Stand Against War mostly for the fact that it was actually made last year.)
Best Remix - Mala - Miracles (Commodo Remix) (Really hope this sees a release some day. The way Commodo flipped this is genius.)
Best Album - LHF - Keepers of the Light (Another group of producers doing something unique and bringing back the sound I love)
Best Mix/Podcast - Kahn & Neek - Gorgon Grime (Raw grime. Sick for me being 19 in the US and never being able to experience that era of grime on the radio)
Best Radio Show - Gourmet Beats (Always pushing unique sounds and keeping it interesting with fresh dubplates every month.)
Best Radio Station - Get Darker (They do so much for the scene and have provided me with hours and hours of entertainment as well as an outlet where I have met many like minded people)
Best Vocalist/MC - Chunky (Such a nice likable guy that always makes me laugh. Love his bars and some of the random things he says e.g. binary code on Twitter, Boddika references, etc...)
Best Blog/Website - Night Tracks (Again pushing a different sound in a scene full of monotony. Really feeling the graphic design work as well)
Best 120-140 Producer - Kahn (Was hesitant to vote for him twice but he really kills the 120 - 140 range with more variation than anyone else on that list in my opinion)
Best 120-140 DJ - Oneman (Thought about only voting for him in this category but decided he deserved both spots for reasons described above)

loool stop moaning op. tbh, i'm clued up with the sound and i've never heard of innamind so i can understand if they're not there.
i voted, but if there's one thing i realised from doing so, it's that these awards need to be scrapped now. not because of the choices made but merely because the sound has been lost and diverted so much over the years that people don't even know what/who to categorise where. i'd nitpick them, but dont wanna mention names.

Re: Dubstep Forum Awards
I was thinking the opposite. The awards look a lot more stream lined in terms of "the sound", but It does feel a little less musically diverse as it has done in the past and really highlights how few labels there are. But in saying that, it is reminiscent of the early scene when not much musi was available so we can only hope this is a good thing and we will soon see more labels popping up releasing a wider range of dubstep music as it were.TopManLurka wrote:i voted, but if there's one thing i realised from doing so, it's that these awards need to be scrapped now. not because of the choices made but merely because the sound has been lost and diverted so much over the years that people don't even know what/who to categorise where. i'd nitpick them, but dont wanna mention names.
Now I'm going to go an cry in my cornflakes because Mala got voted best producer and I never.
edit: I'm talking about physical record labels.

best dj: ben ufo second in the polls (last time this guy played a 140 tune?)
best track: 'percy' near the top - a beat that is essentially just 8-bar grime.
best 120-140 dj: from when youngsta is winning this something has gone wrong lool.
regardless of that, the choices were very bleak to pick from.
oh cool. i voted medi (deservedly so). picked a random one for new label lol (hadn't really heard much from any)Be-1ne wrote:edit: I'm talking about physical record labels.
Re: Dubstep Forum Awards
I was thinking more for the labels / producer / remix categories. Let's face it any muppet with pair of arms can DJ so I'm personally not that fussed in that category.TopManLurka wrote:really?Be-1ne wrote:I was thinking the opposite.
