I don't know how to add complexity to my tracks, nor do I know how to create proper melodies...>.<

Use the notes of your chord progression. That is a simple way to begin to understand melody. Use the notes of the melody to foreshadow the next chord.

Cheers man! I like complex piano pieces so it's just getting notes down etc, I'm learning Level 2 and 3 Music Theory next year during my level 3 music production course in college so it's just finding the inspiration to write melodies without a MIDI Keyboard aswell!

I never play my original tracks at gigs because I'm worried they're not loud enough or mastered properly.
I am crippled by the idea of needing to have my songs mastered. I suck at mastering. I have no interest in learning how to do it either. Just wanna write and arrange and mix. I'm poor.

Also, my gear lust is outta control. Sometimes I starve my kid for weeks. But I think they're happy because they can watch me play w/ my new controller whilst sitting in a puddle of urine.
No, seriously though I do spend stupid amounts of money (that I don't have) on a piece of gear that I've been pining after for months then get sick of it in a week and revert back to my trusty old set-up.

My problem is I follow the old chord prigression and structure, then I don't like it then change it.

YA, I know I could just turn them up but like I said, I'm always worried they sound distorted and amateurish. I like my original tracks. I have confidence in my production skills and I really wish I had the $$$ to send them out to get mastered. I'm working on it though. Every mix down gets better and better, IMHO, so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. Plus, I'm constantly reading and studying about mixing and trying new things I learn. I've been doing this for quite awhile and all my friends say I need to drop my tracks live but I feel like I need to have enough original material to do a whole set. At least then the dynamics and volume will be consistent. I do all my production in Ableton and when I play live I use Traktor. Traktor does have a limiter so................. That's really what I want to do anyway. DJ'ing is fun and all but honestly, mixing other people's shit for an hour gets a little boring to me. I bought an F1 for just that reason. So I can capture loops live and build up new stuff using pieces of other artist's tracks. It's really fun but my main thing is producing.

Why don't you spend the money on gear that makes or changes sounds w/o a DAW

MIDI controller gear lust is a gateway lust to real hardware! Sell some of that shit and buy a synth, man!
Confession: I liked a Skrillex song in the car the other day. "The Reason" or some such. It was kinda Chillwave ish. I don't even know if it's new.
