Ableton *out of memory* Problem

Post by CuriousKontrol » Thu Feb 07, 2013 8:42 pm

Hey guys,

Just finished up on a tune the other night and for some reason it won't export, I keep getting an out of memory error when I clearly have enough (4gb ram and 32-bit version of ableton can only use 3gb). I've been told to freeze tracks but I can't even do that since I get the same "out of memory" problem. I can play the track back no problems (no audio glitches or anything) but when it comes down to exporting it, it just freezes and tell me it's out of memory. I can however play single tracks back and bounce them into audio by setting up an audio track to record the midi track and I can do this with the full track but I'd rather not cause the quality probably won't be as good as exporting it properly and if the playback glitches, that gets recorded too.

Now I would have thought playing it back would have used more CPU than exporting it but it's not seeming to do anything.

Any help would be appreciated!

Options > Preferences > File Folder and then make the maximum cache size bigger

make sure you are playing freeze tracks from hardrive, and not storing them as ram. if you do it this way, you may still drop samples (little orange d in top right will light up), but it will free up ram.

Just had the idea that it could be a plugin that could be causing all this crashing and it turns out I was right - Miroslav's Philharmonik was causing it to crash all of the time for some reason, i'll just have to stay away from using it in future or just bounce to audio straight away :)
