Okay, I'm slowly starting to get this. I can hear some of the deep vowels coming from FM8, but I'm having a difficult time isolating it. I've read that the secondary modulation in FM creates the vowelly overtones.

So say I have the FM matrix in front of me. I route E into F. Then I route D into F. D is my secondary moduation, as I make that the high harmonic, put the waveform on 10th format, and turn the ratio up to 58-62. I then modulate E, which has a ratio of 1.5. I get a pretty generic "yeeeeuuuueeehhh" I then route C to D, and give C a ratio of 2. I now get "yeeeeeaaaaauuuuggggggghhhh".

Here's to demonstrate my problem.



I can't tell if I'm into something, or this is just an dead end. I can hear something back there, but it's so cluttered with high end noise.

Everything is modulating everything too much, thats where the white noise comes from.

This will get you the vowel part, maybe not as much the growly part youre looking for but its a good start.

Aaaaah, I see. Was just messing with FM8 and got MUUCH cleaner sounds. Guess I really over thought that.

I would advice slowing down your movement and have the vowel affect lower mids a little more

I made a few patches from watching that Seamless video. Wrote some notes, added some automations, and ran it through a vocoder.

Yeah ZachFlyod on the IL forums figured out the KTN patch, along with most of the xKore sounds you hear around this forum too.. He's made alot of good shit that kid.

More like a recipe. Plus I'd reccomend putting distortion after filtering.

yeah fm's where it's at. then i resample a few times thru plugins and throw it into kontakt or renoise, or both

Wow nice job... really how did you do that O.O

This image should explain it, btw it was mostly educated guesses when I programmed the FM Matrix in FM8. One last thing regarding the large amount of white noise in the growl; I am sure all said noise could be corrected but it would require messing with the FM Matrix a lot and might make the growl less intense if that makes any sense, my guess is something is feeding in to something too much and causing WAY too much distortion.
