Bio:
Phat Chex aka‘Ben Pooley’ is part of the NONOM (No Nonsense Music Crew) hailing from the South West of England in Plymouth and comes from a background in Hip hop, Turntablism, House, Techno, Electro, IDM and Bass music.
Phat Chex has been DJing since 1993 and started out his career spinning Hip hop. His love of breaks and house music saw him moving into the electronic music scene. Playing for some years at a successful Electro night in Plymouth namely UFO. Along the way, ably supporting DJ’s and acts such as Afrika Bambaataa, Schoolly D, Scape One, Transparent Sound, Dave Tipper, LA Synthesis to name a few.
"After years behind the decks the next logical step was making my own music, and in 2008 I began honing my production skills. Now four years on I have started to release some of the music I have been working on. Most recently a track featured on the new Pyramid Transmissions album Interstellar Communications Vol 1 – a limited 200 vinyl release - with another track to follow on Vol. 2 which is to be released digitally.’
Chex has recently had an EP entitled Distant which has been released on the label Darkfloor Sound and features four of his more dark experimental electro/bass explorations and was played by Dave Clarke on his White noise show recently,http://darkfloorsound.co.uk/
Forthcoming is a 12-inch release on Bristol label Apple Pips which features two of his more house and Techno styled tracks [Git Da Funk & Can't Stop], This is due for release on the 26th of Novemeber 2012.
