I'm (slowly/noncommitialy/ragey) working on this, extremely bitey parts from 0:50

Feedback on the whole thing or biteyness would be cool or whatever :6:

edit: embedded, whoops
The way it like transforms into a screechy sound around 1:02 I think is awsm, reminds me of Far Too Loud - 600 Years.
Care to explain how you did that? :D

Thats the exact song I was trying to copy :6: Oli Cash is a beast! I watched his Production Techniques vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oSIuekl03A ...he doens't go through that exact bassline, but wasn't hard though, just made a duplicate of the growl I already had and changed one of the Massive filters to a scream, automated the scream and resonance to draw it out (the key is finding the right harmonic for the resonance so it still sounds in key) and automated a reverb to get wetter as it drew out. Try it out or PM me if you want things :Q:

Here is another growl by me, this time I used talkwah on FM8 and a new matrix, tried to copy part of the SMaNS drop. :6:

IMO this sounds pretty bad.

Feel free to ask how I did this. I will take screencaps.

Soundcloud

BTW the order of vowels in the talkwah seems to be I,E,A,O,U which makes sense because that is in order of highest formant center to lowest.

I disagree, this sounds badass! :h:

I'd love if you could paste screenshots... will definitely be trying to emulate what you did there

Just automate the talkwah "mouth" and "size" with the same envelope just have "size" affected twice as much.
Also I compressed, distorted and limited the crap out of this.

Trying to emulate the Scary Monsters bass, but trying to get it to sound much cleaner.. like have a nice crunch to it without a constantly hissing high end. Any help?

Sounds like its an octave/few notes too high and there's too much obvious distortion. Try lowering the pitch and toning back your disto.

Cheers, I literally just reuploaded with some changes, can you listen again? Sorry I haven't dealt with the distortion thing yet

Nice, the "ra-ra-ra-raah-ra-ra-eee" is nice. What synth are you making this in? There could be a few different ways to make it clearer and get rid of the noise.

Ah I was wondering if some of the noise was due to feedback in FM8, I was going to suggest toning that down. I'm guessing it's one of the inserts or fx you're using?

My patch is actually pretty simple, I've only got a sine shaper with half dry/wet and drive in massive. There is other distortion outside though (izotope trash and ableton saturator)

Cheers! I've even done a full remake now... Soundcloud

But yeah, basically the bass is massive fed into a vowel eq, followed by izotope trash, then ableton saturator, then izotope ozone. After that it's resampled and shifted down a couple of semitones, and I automated a broad peak to move with the vowel, and for some of the faster bits I chopped it up.
